ELR Autumn Gala 15/16/17 October 2021

I hate to be a buzzkill and it is sad that 60009 won't be running at this event but in my personal opinion having 7820 'Dinmore Manor' and 41312 at the gala will make it more Steam Gala-ish than just having 60009 Farewell event with the home fleet playing second fiddle, if you know what I mean.

 

More details and timetable now on website, but no loco allocations yet.

 

Yeah, I kind of agree. Obviously a big-name star loco is great, but I think a gala should also be a chance to see a few guests you might not otherwise be able to see if you can't get to their home railways. (EDIT: or a few home fleet members that don't see as much action)

I did however quite fancy another trip behind no. 9 before the fat lady sang, but them's the breaks.

 

Looking forward to this event, although it's a shame about No.9, the replacements look great!
Anyone know if any goods trains are due to run over the weekend?

On the Saturday Ann will be shunting goods around Bury

 

It would have been nice if it did some sort of passenger trains (even if only brake van rides) now that it is fitted with vacuum brakes.

If the boiler was off it's back on now, pulled us on Saturday whilst flexing a members ticket, solid performance as usual, see below.

 

This should be the best steam gala at the ELR for a while. Particularly looking forward to 7820 and 41312. I'm also hoping for an L&Y pairing.

 

Well, the time I was referring to was 2017 in the final stages of the restoration. That's how long it's been since I had the chance.

 

Will this be 47298s first appearance since overhaul?

Friday loco allocations on timetable now

 

With it looking like freight in the shuttle slots

 

Sadly, the timetable isn't in a printable format. Hopefully, they'll put up a printable one soon.

 

Freight trains stopping at Burrs and Summerseat, but only a few passenger trains calling at those stations. Looks like the timetable was written with the shuttles planned to be passenger trains.

 

Why is City of Wells not being used till 4pm on both Friday and Saturday?

 

Out on the diner afterwards, so crew on an afternoon/evening turn.

 

is that Sunday as well?

 

Yes Wells is down for the dinner on Sunday as well (although thats a daytime not evening turn, why there is the afternoon gap in the timetable).
