A few maritime images from Southampton.

It was so nice to get away from home and point my camera at some ships for the first time in 20 months. The light was pretty grim most of the time and my upper body is still aching from holding up the canon 28 - 300 L lens, but I didn't care a jot!

Some nice boats there John. They make the 'Ben My Chree' look a bit sad!

IMHO the current Ben is a travesty of her predecessor

And yet, trains run in connection with ships are commonly known as BOAT trains. Indeed when I worked in DMO Wimbledon, one of my duties was arranging the Boat Trains to/from Soton.

I know the feeling - I went to Duxford on Saturday for the flying day there, which was basically an airshow in all but name. First time in a couple of years I've had to stand around with a 150-600mm lens for 5 hours, and I certainly knew about it when I got home! Last few events I've been to I've either been with the wife, so we've taken chairs, or fly ins where it's a lot more relaxed and you're not constantly taking photos.

You beat me to the comment. Working in Southampton Docks in 1974/75 they were always "boat trains".

Sadly I am too young to have experienced her, although I do remember sailing on The Bristol Queen even though I could have been no more than 3
