You would hope that it is as a result of engineering work Neil. Otherwise someone is having a laugh. Nearly 20 miles from West Hampsted TL back to West Hampstead on the NLL.
Mind you a couple of bits of track I would like to do.

They say one should not mock the afflicted, but how else should one respond to the RTC's latest brochure, where the page for the Edinburgh Christmas Market trip shows timings from Slough to Par and back.

Although in all fairness I once signed a purchase contract for a piece of equipment with a clause about a totally unrelated service in it that had nothing to do with what was being purchased. Neither I nor the supplier noticed it until about 6 months in to the contract.

For Saturday's trip to Stratford , can anyone confirm if the whole train is being turned or just the loco . If the whole train is being turned then diesel on the back

Timings on RTT show it is class 5 to and from Dorridge.

Empty coaching stock as opposed to class 0 light loco.

Whilst it's physically possible for loco plus POB to be detached and run back to turn at Hatton there are three issues.
    1. The stock remains at Stratford and clogs up the station while it is there.
    2. The turning move with a POB involves propelling a coach for a distance and that is not allowed.
    3. If the move is carried out without the POB then it has to be marshalled at one end of the train and is therefore not adjacent to the loco for half the journey.

So my (uninformed) logic tells me that the whole train will be turned and a diesel will be needed to do that.

Of course, if it's Scotsman then would you allow it out without a minder at present? That may sound uncharitable but if I were the TOC I wouldn't be taking chances on what is actually a complicated set of movements associated with this trip.

Assume with diesel on back then that will haul it and stock to Hatton station where reverses, then FS to Dorridge, and reverses with diesel back to Stratford.

There is a siding just up by Bentley Heath where LSL have been servicing engines , water and coal so I'm guessing thats the 50 minutes or so at Dorridge accounted for
