And very fine ones they are too. Any idea where the undergubbins were sourced? South Africa wouldn't surprise me. I know the BMR tend to keep shtum until there's something to present to the world, so can't wait to see what they've got up their sleeves next!

Yes, Tony Hills plundered a goodly quantity of South African bogies, wheels, couplers etc, easily enough to provide for another rake of passenger stock, and plenty of spare besides. Clever man, much missed, but his lads seem to be running with the ball.
As the BMR runs and pays its own way without needing the begging bowl out, they don't need to keep maintaining enthusiast interest with regular news updates. And I get the impression that IT and social media is not a strong interest of the management. Stuff pops up on facebook now and then, but largely they just seem to quietly get on with it.

As someone who gets mighty peeved by those TV programmes where you have to make a grab for the remote to avoid being told what's happening "On Next Weeks Episode....", the idea of the odd surprise doesn't phase me in the least .... and in the case of the BMR, they've sprung some very pleasant ones on us, over the years. :)

As someone comparatively local the lack of communications can be a barrier at times, particularly if trying to arrange a visit with the family, but I have always admired their general ethos. I'd really love for them to open up to volunteering, I'd be there in a flash, but it is what it is because of they way they operate and it works!
