I have been up the Portsmouth direct at least twice behind Clan Line, but only down it behind 70013.

On Saturdays 17th & 24th September 1994 Clan Line worked Victoria-Portsmouth & Southsea and return . The first was with the raspberry ripple FOs, the second with the VSOE. They have also worked over the Portsmouth Direct before 1967.

Thanks I didn't know that. I can't recall any pre 67, I thought they were overweight for some of the bridges

I gather that the Pullmans went over Witley at 49. 38 into Buriton Tunnel after 23 platform restriction at Pfield and 55 at Roundwood after sigs up to Winchester.

All those speeds are really good. Well done to the crew and 28!

Sounds like it was a wonderfully-managed trip - great timekeeping in what may have been challenging conditons and a late re-routeing seemingly working well. A screenshot from Weybridge, with more stills and video to come. Seeing the train on the fast in both directions was somewhat reminiscent of the 'Belle' (headcodes aside!).

RTT suggests BAS to WOK in 25 min. That doesn't sound swift but factor in SL to FL at BAS and FL to SL at WOK including approach control plus 530 tons gross and it looks half decent.

I videoed the train in the fading light at Fleet. Not ideal conditions, but a record of the occasion:

    Hope you approve.

Not the run on the UF that was originally planned before the change in route, but still a stunning sight to see Clan Line pulling into her birthplace this afternoon: [IMG]

Joining the SWML at Wimbledon Junction, accelerating through Winchester, and speeding through Brookwood in the fading light:

Nice clips. Pleased to see the support crew were on top of keeping the correct head codes on show down the Pompey and then up the SWML.
