The air pump was very noisy. When the regulator was closed beyond Wilpshire summit (and probably about 400 yds after the loco had passed me) I could clearly hear the pump.

You're right Martin when you listen and watch carefully it's not in sync with the wheel rotation it's definitely a chuffing air pump.

Just a short clip from Tangmere's loaded test run. About 20 seconds in, by which time the loco would have been well past Wilpshire summit and almost 400 yards away, the regulator was closed and the rhythmic clanking of the air pump can be heard clearly.

I see the Stafford loop and Shrewsbury loop from Crewe HS has come up on RTT for tomorrow and Wednesday afternoon respectively.

Any idea what's coming out to play. Seems strange for that not to use their dedicated morning slot out of Crewe.

I imagine it's the pair of 20s which need testing ready for Saturday's tours

Interesting, are the 20s restricted to 60mph ?
Some after dark runs back in 2018 were for driver experience.

I think I understand the Shrewsbury loop: Crewe - Shrewsbury - Bushbury (Oxley) Jn - Stafford - Crewe. But what is the Stafford loop?
