Went over to York today to see the 2 steam specials
Both called The Christmas White Rose
One run by Saphos Tours with 46100 Royal Scot, and the other by Vintage Trains with 6233 Duchess of Sutherland
Second to arrive running about 45 minutes late was 6233 Duchess of Sutherland

Looks like a stopper got out from York just in front of the Duchess and time just got lost.

My dad's video of the Duchess whilst stuck behind the stopper at Pontefract Baghill. Made for a challenging climb from Ferrybridge to Ackworth!

I took my younger brothers mate on the premier diner in coach C today on 6233 we decided to board at Nuneaton to get 3 and half hours more steam miles and enjoyed the outward journey towards Wigston magna jct a good bit of climbing through Hinkley and on to Leicester and a bit more level a bit of shovage from 47773 now we were on the main midland line as far as Toton after picking up more passengers at East mids p,way and a sudden stop at Toton to fix the water carrier hoses delayed us nearly 50 mins (approx) I liked the sight of the old class 60,s parked up at Toton, and we got away again from Ilkeston and a nice noisy climb up to stavley from 6233 and got onto the more level rother valley to Holmes jct and more shovage again off the sulzer 47 to pontefract baghill sta 4 water for nearly half hour and off again over a hour down toward York and arrived after 2pm and had our walk round the Xmas market and northern quarter of york gardens and Bootham bar and had a brew and light sandwich at Sampson church and resumed our walk of york gardens and ST Mary's showing my brothers mate some of the medieval and Roman historical relics, etc and returned at 5pm to go back to Leicester and our Xmas dinner and a nice noisy exit through Holgate sidings back to 41E with 6233 and 2 more hours behind 47773 to Leicester and my brothers mate Colin was quite impressed with the organisation of the tour overall and said he would do more tours in 2022 with vintage trains. So here,s davo wishing all travellers aboard the White rose tour a very merry Xmas and a happy 2022 hopefully and photters out filming the saphos tour featuring 34046 also I hope you enjoyed both the tours in and out of york.

On the Merchant Venturer the 47 didn't apply power with the exception of leaving Warwick Parkway on the return for a short stretch and wasn't applying anything before we'd reached Hatton. Aside from that it powered only for shunting the stock when it was leading and to get up the bank at Tyseley.

It's been rumbling away on the rear today though most likely taking its weight.

It will sound like it's more than idling when providing ETH. It won't be providing anything traction power except when requested by the driver up front even just to take its own weight.

Another from a dull and dreary Clay Mills. If only for the sun of the S&C shots seen on another thread.
