Thanks Michael B for clarifying. The google map referenced from the L and B website has now been updated to show this recent land purchase - so if any one is unclear checking this out will answer any remaining questions.

I have tried to add everything, To note:- The left hand notes on the map can be toggled to show various items, in the sub sections , click on an item and it transports you to there.
Sometimes like stations extra zoom is needed to make out various items.

    I do hope this helps.

    No worries.

As for the red marker, I am wanting to survey this bit of trackbed for quite sometime. I will get to see it during an organised trackbed walk soon. I do understand that any trackbed we purchase comes with a please don't try to walk on it until we have permission. So a little longer wait before the maps will be more accurate.

I'll untoggle the maps for a day or two just for effects.

    Kind regards.

    Chris

Linky, please? I can't find naffall on the L&B website, except those old 1" OS maps, which only give a general idea of the route.

The old site is so much better than the new site. Please toggle the left hand side to add various layers. The first link Mark, is for the general page of which the map is on. The second one is a direct link. click on the lower link of the map to open it right up and don't forget to ZOOM in. Also you can change the base maps and add it to your google maps on your mobile. Open up the icons to see extra info. From the menu click on an item to transport you to them.

Enjoy and see you in a month or two/three:D:D:D:D:D

Many thanks for this, D-R. Wow. I had no idea this even existed!
My next question is whereabouts on the new acquisition, is the deviation around the reservoir going to have to begin? Its just I recall reading that the original formation would be regained "around Hunnacott".

Great map, thanks for showing us where to find it. Is there a layer that shows the parts of the original route which are not currently owned or leased to L&B or EA? I'm having a bit of trouble comparing the railway map with the 25" on the computer. Or would it be contentious to display it on t'internet?

What I do to compare maps on the screen is to copy and paste them side-by-side in Microsoft Publisher. If the maps aren't saveable or downloadable, use the Print Screen facility and crop the maps as necessary. Rescaling them so they are both the same scale is easy.

Hanging doors is easy. Repairing sashes is easy.
Computer stuff is not easy. I had never heard of Microsoft publisher

The Map shows the parts of the route which are owned either by the Trust or Exmoor Associates. So what remains is not yet purchased.

Microsoft Publisher is part of Microsoft Office [Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc] - however it is part of the professional version [or used to be] which is expensive. I now tend to use Open Office [which is a free download] but which does not include an equivalent of Publisher.

Publisher is mainly for publishing websites but can see how maps can be compared. Now part of Microsoft 365 Personal £5.99 per month subscription. But 2 free browser windows could do the comparison.

Good map, to see what route remains, but not yet brought was green no longer shown, but can be be added by clicking on the menu "new track work layer".

    Hi all,

I'm not a computer expert just a simple guy that as found this map design very simple to use.
A background story, Back in 2008 I looked at the maps of the railway and found most were 1:50,000 with a line drawn along. These were for me a little vague.
In work, we use all scales down to 1:50 to show fine detail. Most days 1:200 / 1:250 is perfect. 1:500 is a general scale.
So for my own use I started to build up a basic map, I added the stations added the route to the best of my ability. As time went by Bridges were next etc until I released on the ground help was needed so I started to volunteer with EA, The maps took a back step until I realised that they would be useful on the ground, More stuff was added and shared on the Exmoor Associates webpage as well as the trust one. I now work on it on very wet days.

    How to use....
    map1.png

By ticking or unticking the boxes (red hand drawn ticks) additional layers are added or taken away. (Incidentally the image shown is the trackbed owed Red= trust & blue is EA).

    Going further into a layer...
    map2.png
The red circled MORE, opens up to get more information and percentages.
Now into the Bridge layer, I clicked on to the list of bridges number 67 was selected on the left (and off we go).
If still on the left list...Bridge 61 was pressed the screen would whizz off to Parracombe.

    Old O/S maps.........
    map3.png

Clicking on "Map 10" is just above the new section. Too see the old map click on "South" hyperlink and go to the NLS maps site
Also look at this overlayered map by them. Most excellent!!!!!!!
    https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/sid...08520&lon=-4.03910&layers=168&right=MapBoxSat

While we are here... The North one goes up to Wistlandpound and above is the Calvert Trust. But in that one Wistlandpound is the South one. (These map points are on the boundary of these NLS maps).

    And finally.......
    Untitled.png

This is of Chelfham. By clicking on Base Map on the left .... we loose the Satellite images. Here we have signals, grad posts, a picnic area and a walk (in yellow) . Please come and see us on a Wednesday or Sunday 10-4. Added now is the signing in book, first aid box and fire extinguisher for those wanting to help out.

I hope all this helps and it is a long winded.

    Kind regards,

    Chris

    Hi Mark,

See lower post, but "Station Layer" scroll down to "EA Hunnacott" highlight and whizz.... As for Wistlandpound formation. Click on new layer for a rough reroute. Note this is my guesswork and not to do with the trust or other land owners.
