I'd say put one of the Peppercorns in British Railways Apple Green, give us a bit more variety! Or put an A4 in Garter Blue...

Liveries....Yay. All of them as God intended I e Apple green. Except one of the Streaks which Can be Grey. Or blue.

That great gathering was, well.... Great but would have better if one of each of the 6 main livery variants had been present. Grey. Green. Blue. Black. The other blue. The other green...

Just to bump this one up, is there any news of a certain A2 that reminds me of a certain TV presenter from my youth? :)

I guess we've got to assume that @Matt37401 isn't old enough for Valerie Singleton or Libby Purves, maybe not even Janet Ellis, so are we talking about Sarah Greene or more recent. Or Simon Groome for that matter… or Shep even…

    ;)

He probably isn't but some of us are old enough (although, I stress, only small boys, at the time!) to remember Blue Peter's first encounter with 532, when it was relaunched at Doncaster works by the classic presenter team of Valerie Singleton, John Noakes and Peter Purves. The event was chaotic, which far more crowds that were expected but provided great media coverage, even then. Geoff Drury's recollections of the event and, indeed, the second rededication, when NELPG had restored her, probably don't bear repeating on such a polite forum as this, even after a long passage of time!

I also always enjoyed by the Blue Peter model layout in the studio, which featured a repainted and double-chimneyed Trix A2. Advanced stuff in those days!

I assume they are getting there, seems to be one of the longest running overhauls in history, considering the resources they have to throw at her. From reading the railway media, it seems to be causing quite the backlog at Crewe as every time the overhaul of another locomotive is mentioned the response seems to be 'it will be done after Blue Peter is finished'!

Katy Hill and a few years later Zoe Salmon seems you ask, (Janet Ellis’s daughter’s rather easy on the eye as well) this is all way, way off topic though :)

Some of us old gits just remember Chris Trace and Leila Williams as presenters along with the real thing being prepared for its A2 Commemorative tour at Nine Elms in August 66. Sadly I never got to see it work in Scotland

Would suggest with 70000 now at final snagging, and due for running in at the Severn Valley, together with another resident of Crewe, she must be at the head of the queue now.
    Other than running repairs etc...

Wasn’t a fan of hers until later on in life, this is all a rather nice distraction from 60532 though :)

If I could go back to the '70s, I'd rather fancy a pleasantly enjoyable evening in the company of Tina Heath, Anthea Turner or Caron Keating.
"Here's one we made earlier" etc...

You mention a steam-age beauty who set a precedent for later generations of Blue Peter pleasantness.

When the TV programme began in 1958, the locomotive was only 10 years old - younger than some of the early BP presenters.

Mmm, there's something about women of the 1940s / 50s, so damned attractive. Unlike many of today's identikit specimens... Same goes for locos too...

I suspect that you once spent too much time perusing Health and Efficiency magazine.
