I like they way they've timed the trains every hour on the hour from Bury, 09-00, 10-00, 11-00 etc.
Until they get to 15-00 -- which departs at 15-01 hauled by.....D1501! ;)

Please don’t call diesel’s ‘paraffin cans’ it does a bit of a disservice to those who look after them.

Sorry if I have upset you in anyway, I have for years tongue in check referred to all motive power as kettles, paraffin cans and sparklers (the title of my much shown slide show to various clubs without offense), I like all forms of motive power and don't have a down on any particular sort. At least I brought the diesel day to everyone's attention. I shall desist as requested, shame I have to watch what I say when no offense was/is intended. I can't for the life in me see how it does a disservice to those who look after them, but if that is so and you are their champion, so be it. Another sad day then for mirth and free speech. I shall withdraw from the forum and comment no further.

Take no flippin' notice of them Harold.
Same happened to me a few years ago just because I posted a photo of two young ladies on a footplate and referred to them as a 'Glamorous Crew'.
One ex-member really laid into me, it was unbelievable!

Please don’t apologise, if anything I should say sorry for being a little high handed, I’m sorry, I know what you said was meant in jest, and I shouldn’t have got so annoyed.
Please continue to post on here The ‘Railways and People’ thread is one I’ve found most enjoyable.

Again I really can’t apologise enough if I’ve upset you.
    All the best, Matt

Matt, no need to apologise, I probably felt the need to have a rant and you provided the excuse! Even at my advancing years I still learn new lessons, in these ever increasingly politically correct times we find ourselves I still find it difficult to believe that I have to watch what I say, just in case.
At this point I usually invoke Voltaire which goes something along the lines "I may not like or agree with what you say, but I would defend to the death your right to say it!" Generally taken as the axiom of free speech. It will be a sad world if we can't say what we want.
I look forward to more constructive exchanges with you in the various threads we both contribute to. Best regards Harold.

Looks like it's a riding day, weather forecast changed from fine sunny day to heavy rain all day, as the Wife's father used to say, "wouldn't pay them with holes in washers!"
