I wonder if the DSR will negotiate the purchase of 2873's boiler so they can make use of both locos

    Isn't 2873's boiler on 3803?

I believe it's at Tyseley (at least that's the boiler I was referring to)

The Dartmouth Steam Railway is fast becoming the centre for GW heavy freight designs!
    5239, 2873, 3803, 4277 and 4247.

They are building a very strong home fleet- excellent to see.

2873 has been bought as spare parts. No way they gonna restore that thing, sorry!

I would imagine 4270 will eventually end up on the DSR as well seeing as Hosking owns it.

Well, it looks as though the DSR is building up a nice collection of 'Big Chuffers' because it has work for them.

You mean they’re having a case of ‘Big Chufferitus’? How dare they? They’re not an enthusiast railway!:confused::)

My opinions. Seeing as 2873 has pretty much nothing left of it and DSR are commerical outfit, I doubt they will restore it. What a waste of a resource and capital now that they have 4110, 4277, 5239, 3803, 7827, 75014 as company owned locomotives, before you even think about 2253 and 4247, and of course 4555.

Then with respect, you should perhaps modify your original post.

I respectfully decline. I will change it if 2873 ever returns to traffic.

Why does Hoskings owning 4270 mean it will end up on the DSR? No hoskings loco has ever been a DSR resident before, have they?

EDIT: Something in my brain is saying 6960 spent a year of two there during its most recent boiler ticket (I could be wrong). But in any case, that's hardly the same as becoming permanent resident to the degree that 4247 is (20 year agreement, wasn't it?)

If he's right, bythe same logic we should see 92212 moving there too.....
