Perhaps because they had the "natural" look that today's models use so much make-up to attain.

Unfortunately not...! I am a child of the 1970s, but really do find that I was born several decades too late in some respects... Ladies' fashions of the '30s - '60s, together with natural elegance, make all the difference. I have to keep away from Wartime re-enactment days!

My late father took me to Doncaster to the first renaming, the icing on the cake was the tour around the works.
    Fabulous memories.

I do tend to get a little bit more intrested with some of the other stuff that was around at the time of when that was filmed, it’s rather interesting what else was knocking around at the time.

Trying to bring this thread back to 60532...., this appeared on LSL's FB page today.

    'MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY' [IMG]
This is Dan. He is a boilersmith at LNWRH. He has around 14 years of experience working with boilers and pressure systems. [IMG][IMG]
When asked what he loves most about his job, Dan said that would be working at one of the best equipped boiler shops in the country. [IMG]
He is currently leading the restoration of Blue Peter's boiler, making sure it is rebuilt to the best standard possible, as seen in the photo.
His daily duties include inspecting the running fleet's boilers after wash-out to make sure they are safe for mainline operation.
Originally, Dan wanted to be a pilot, but made himself sick on his first flying lesson with the RAF Cadets! [IMG]
In his spare time, he can be found in his home based workshop, building a 7 1/4" gauge steam engine, or driving lorries at weekends.

Aye .... but with work obviously underway, perhaps "It's now possible to envisage 60532's return in the foreseeable future" might be a kinder way of putting it?

They are prioritising 60532 to get the mechanical work finished while the boiler is progressing, with the foundation ring appearing to be ready for riveting and the firebox ready for re-staying.
The tender has had a new tank fitted.
It won't be long until 60007 moves to the SVR for running in, and it looks really good in its temporary black livery.
