Dont know about that... but 9fs have frequented the NYMR on and off for some time and the points and other track features will be maintained with this in mind
Long time Since a 9f Came to Keighley.
Interesting that since the Dubdee was restored dont think any of its 2-10-0 brethren have been running but a pair of them would be an interesting Gala Feature...

9F's are banned on the Network, not on Heritage railways.
To do with raised checkrails found in some forms of S+C and the action of the centre driver.
Raised Checks, Which I believe are not in use anywhere on the Heritage network. Not even on the NYMR.

I’m sure I have read something from a member of KWVR Permanent Way dept that 9Fs are no longer allowed on KWVR metals these days. Happy to be corrected though.

Post 92220’s last visit around around use of the Eric Tracey funeral trains and alleged track damage ,KWVR have entertained no 2-10-0 s or 1-Co-Co -1 locos .
Think related to the curve leaving Keighley .Don’t see a reason why the Q6 couldn’t visit ,but why would they want it ,when it’s available for considerably longer runs elsewhere frequently ,not too far away ?
There again cannot see the attraction of 7714 for a second visit ,but surprised former spares resident 4612 had never made a working return .

Thanks for confirming. I can see what you mean about 7714... it really isn't that long since it was there. I can understand the Scot because it's in the 'area' for the ELR gala anyway so I imagine transport costs are somewhat reduced, but it does seem odd to go for the same two visitors as a few years ago. Having said that though, we don't know what work has gone on behind the scenes - it might be that 7714 was the only option available on the terms the KWVR needed.

You do have a fair point @D7076 but you could generally say that about any engine going anywhere. It was more to do with curiosity than anything else and the fact that it has been a fair while since anything LNER has appeared on the line.

The lorry driver would definitely be racking up some miles! :D
Then again, didn't they have 4160 from WSR?
Surely that wouldn't be much different?

Thought the main problems lay in starting and stopping a load that heavy, rather than just keeping going a ways further? ;)

Indeed. but given the time taken to Load unload and an average speed of less than 40mile an hour its probably a 2 day journey, and the guys doing the shifting dont do it for free.

Don't let that get in the way though!

    65462, 62005, 61264, 68153, 63395 and to a degree, 60007 are the only ones I can think of.

61264 and 62005 are not in working order and you forgot 65894. That leaves a total of four, plus 60007 which I think may be too big for the KWVR.

Either way you want to square it, an incredibly small pool of locomotives. Apart from 60007, I can't think of anything due back immediately. The J21, D49 and J72 are making progress and Scotsman I think is now out for some remedial work ahead of its centenary.

Not sure of the exact differences between an A4 and an A3 but Flying Scotsman was able to work the WVR on the basis that it was on the Oxenhope end and didn't run around (as the run-round loop would be too tight for it I think I heard?) - could they do similar with an A4?

Yes @alexl102, it was, back in 2017 when it visited alongside 13065.
    That's a good 5 years ago now.

Well, maybe so but 564, 63395, 65894 would attract more people than 7714, possibly not as much as 46100.

Just think it would be a nice alternative for a steep short line like Keighley, especially hearing its exhaust climbing up from Keighley.

Remember 564, 63395 & 65894 would all require two lorry movements including for the tender, where as 7714 will only require one. The budget may not be able to stretch to an extra movement, as they aren't cheap and most railways are still recovering from having to shut etc for Covid. That is without knowing if any of those above locos would even be available due to winter maintenance/being needed for service at there home base.
