LSL say they hope to have Blue Peter back in service early next year.

Yeah I saw in Steam Railway that the loco will be operational over the next 8 to 10 months according to LSL's MD, looking forward to 60532's return and reuniting with 60163, but together in steam.

 

Is Blue Peter definitely going to be in blue?

Could it historically go into BR blue ? did any of the class wear the short lived livery ? If i can remember correctly so far 60532 has only carried Br green, and LNER apples green . So a change of livery might be a welcome change.

 

How about an A1, A2, A3, A4 line-up..... all in steam of course......

I think only A1's, A3's and A4's carried Express Passenger Blue on the Eastern Region (and Duchesses, Princesses, Merchant Navies and Kings were the only other classes to carry it).

I suspect looking at the rest of the LSL fleet the loco will be in Express Passenger Green/Brunswick Green.

That as well. There's 2/4 that are going to be operational with LSL and I wouldn't be surprised if Scotsman ends up hauling a mixture of Saphos or SD trips after overhaul, if the A1 Trust joins them for some trips we could have the potential for a tour using all 4.

 

For reference my personal choice is BR Brunswick Green but I suspect it could go into BR Apple Green like Tornado. I must say BR Blue was a livery I thought would only suit an A4 but looked impressive on Tornado. A shame that Tornado will probably be in BR Apple Green indefinitely as I’m not a massive fan of that livery.

 

It’s up to LSL what they do but it’s really just an A1 with smaller wheels so the same livery as Tornado will just confuse Joe Public

 

No A2s of any designer on LNER wore blue. Only A3s, A4s, Great Northern and the Pep A1s.

 

First (most welcome) news for some months and you wonder that folks might think about how.you came by it?

 

For the umpteenth time, and despite what 'Steam Beano' print there was no such thing as "BR Brunswick Green". The colour was B.R. Locomotive Green which B.R. inherited from the GWR where it was known as Middle Chrome Green. Brunswick green is a totally different colour with more blue in it.
