And the tentacles of Saphos spread even more widely to a starting point that is nowhere near Crewe.

Empty stock to Holgate on Friday and returning on Sunday, I hope they have some security around for both nights as some locals take great delight in 'Tagging' and a set of pristine coaches will be a real challenge.

Every cloud has a silver lining they say, not that there were any in the sky this morning - but the unfortunate absence of the Duchess on the Chester train made the choice of where to be a little easier since the two trains would have passed somewhere between Madeley and Norton Bridge.
The footbridge by the site of Madeley station provided a little shelter for 45231 from the easterly wind which the original plan wouldn't have.

(Not long afterwards the Chester train came north to sit in Crewe for the scheduled 70 odd minutes - I'm sure the passengers would have preferred a little extra time in Chester had it been possible)

A lovely day yesterday, though it was slim pickings for the return leg, as there are very little shots to be had when the sun is out. Danzey Green was always going to be the best bet, though you can see why in the excellent pictures already posted.

Martin, your youngster's clip at Danzey is stunning. Well thought out, simply letting the train run through the beautiful scenery. Please congratulate him from me. <BJ>
