I've had a look but I can't see any Whitehouse junction. You've got Milford Jct before Shugborough tunnel. I think its a set of points or a crossover just before Milford.

There is a Whitehouse Junction just after Stafford Trent Valley Junction, both trains pass at Whitehouse Junction

Not really visible on satellite maps. Milford is the closest. Could do with it pin pointed.

Nothing wrong with Manchester, I stayed there on a week's holiday a couple of years ago, a very nice city.

I think you mean both pass through Whitehouse junction with 6233 waiting to allow the Castle through at the end of the 4 track section.

Oh Yea? Inter City 125s did not go into production until 1975 and were initially used on the WR out of Paddington, followed in 1976 by the ER out of Kings Cross. Don't know when they started going regularly to Manchester but it would have been much later than that.

It looks like senility, like summer, comes soonest in the south;).

A fine sight as the empty train leaves Manchester Piccadilly. Sadly the sun, which had shone beautifully on various units, disappeared at the crucial moment.

Look, I know you have been peeved since your career progression was stymied when they cancelled the character of Victor Meldrew, but I am not going to waste a sunny day mincing words with the perpetually and professionally offended.

    Good afternoon;)

Cheers Ralph, just need to pinpoint the actual junction on a satellite map, as I'm struggling.

Many thanks, looks like it's a stone throw from Milford JCT. Just need to find some access.

I'm well aware what part of the UK Manchester is in and I didn't mention anything about the Pennines either.

According to RTT, on the outward run it arrived at Piccadilly at 1306 and left at 1306¼. 15 seconds to get everybody off seems unlikely. How long was it actually there? And does anyone know why the pax were taken to Piccadilly but collected back at Victoria? Just to make sure they saw a bit of Manchester?

Two views of Castleton (near Manchester, centre of the universal, gateway to the known world), terrible position with the sun. One arriving, the other shoved back just before they pulled the tanker up and started to unroll the hoses. P1140143.JPG P1140146.JPG
