Does anyone know if working members of other railways with reciprocal travel arrangements are eligible for the members' discount as in previous years?
    TIA

As with the mainline, I fear that the measures to deter fare-dodgers might be counterproductive. They cost more and and discourage travellers by presenting a bureaucratic, unfriendly and over-complicated face to the railway.

According to the ticketing info sent out to BOs and TTIs, yes.

Looks like there is no access to the area opposite Kidderminster signal box. Bit of a shame.

With the footbridge replacement, it's classed as a building site.

Strange question I know, but do we have a better idea yet of how long 'a while' is, wanting to take my father to Didcot at the start of June and fear the Saint will still be at SVR?

2999 is rostered as part of the Queens Platinum Jubilee weekend at SVR over 2-5 June. But is said to be one of the Saints final appearance before returning to DRC.

I would imagine it is cover until Hagley Hall is ready. Hoping it and perhaps another visitor is in use over early May Bank Holiday weekend as can not make the gala.

Day 1 of the Gala was good and very busy. Everything ran smoothly up until mid afternoon when the 15.15 ex Kiddy was held because of a fire at Northwood. I had left for the long trek home by then but I suspect that the otherwise well managed timetable might have unravelled a bit after 3 pm.

The double header trip was a feisty affair and whilst 4498 was fine it did feel a bit as though it was a size 10 foot in a size 9 shoe. Given the load of 8 on the trip I had with 75069 it really did sparkle and went up Eardington as though it wasn't there.

Well done to all the staff, on and off the trains. All very welcoming. Lineside photographers everywhere.

I'll echo the thanks to crews and staff. The timetable basically lost an hour, which was how long the Fire Brigade kept the line closed. It meant a later than expected finish, but still a day to remember, mostly for moments like this.

Just got home after a great day. I got there just before 9am to buy my tickets, the queue to do so being shorter than the queue to pick up pre-booked tickets! I was also able to pay for car parking at the same time and they were cheaper than online as there was no booking fee.

Trains were very busy although I avoided 4498’s trains which looked wedged every time I saw them. The timetable was delayed due to the fire although everything still ran to sequence so it just meant a slightly later arrival time.

The doubleheader was the highlight, the crews seemed to be enjoying the smaller locos!!

A few of my friends on the footplate up there rather enjoy the smaller engines, as it was put to me one night after a few beers it’s a bit like Jimi Hendrix trying to get a tune out of a right handed guitar with his left ‘ond’ :) in all seriousness it’s great to see pride in the job :):)

A very nice combination of loco and stock.
