Might be answering my own question but could it be BIL going over to York to do the York - Edinburgh leg of the Great Britain XIV tomorrow?

Yes but first they are doing York to Edinburgh and then on Monday the 'extended Fife Circular'. Heaton to Berwick in 72 mins tomorrow looks good.

That was rather my point, why would they be running ECS Joppa-Carlisle on the 26/4 when they are hauling GB Stirling Carlisle on the same day?

OK I'm with you. As I see it there are several moves on Tuesday :

    Joppa to Stirling
    Stirling to Carlisle main train
Stirling to Carnforth LE presumably diesel
    Joppa to Carnforth ???
    Carnforth to Carlisle presumably Leander
Carlisle to Carnforth presumably the Scot and MN
Carlisle to Grange and thence to Carnforth main train

The fourth one of these, at around 1130 from Joppa. Have a look. What is that? The others all make sense.

The second one is a regular WTT "Q" path assigned to LSL.
The return "Q" path is 5P55 1242 Coton Hill Sdgs to Crewe HS.
Both have ben used quite a bit over the last couple of years for loco and crew running in.

    Cheers, Neil

    Thanks Neil
Yes I'm familiar with the LSL Q paths, but what raised my interest in this one was that for several days it's been marked VAR * which seems usual when LSL intend to use the path, initially I wondered if it may be the A4 test run but if it doesn't return to Crewe until the Tuesday that can't be it.

*update - 26/4 VAR path 5P55 now shown as WTT again.

22D_0773 45596 & 45690 Yorton 280422.jpg The pair passing through Yorton a few minutes later.
The station buildings (left) are now a private house but the station still retains a brick built waiting room on the Crewe platform which has been recently refurbished.
