Please. Let us give the Swanage to Wareham amenity service the fair trial that has been promised and that it deserves. And yes, a steam only Swanage to Norden Gates Railway was not envisaged by the founders. It has evolved that way but now times are changing and it is time to revisit the original mandates. Did you bother to read what those learned professors wrote. They are paid to study and comment on issues of importance in the realm of public transport. Run it and they will come.all the way from Wareham to Swanage!

The problem is that there is a school of thought that the Amenity Service proposals should not be honoured. I believe that they should. I do not think that I am alone in that position. BTW doesn't that Bubblecar make a great shot at Wareham(alight here for Corfe Castle and Swanage)

Surely that is the realm of the SRC and whatever public bodies are involved to establish a timetable. Amenity def. "A desirable or useful feature" So in itself the Swanage to Wareham connection for passengers to and from, fits that particular bill. The frequency and timing is in the hands of the aforementioned. AND it is happening in 2023! You will be there to bear witness and no doubt,as is proper,the SRC will be making reams of publicity from the event

 

That particular flight is,I note ,from Edmonton. The good thing about which, is that it is a great jumping off point for the Canadian Rockies by train or car. Here in YYZ we are blessed with at least one,sometimes two BA flights per day in addition to Air Canada. There are other charter operators also flying transatlantic usually to Gatwick(train connections can be made to Wareham,and next year,Swanage!)

 

That's not what I asked you though is it?

A desirable feature could be a heritage tourist railway with occasional mainline incoming/outgoing trains, couldn't it?

LGW to Wareham (via Clapham Jct)
Wareham to Swanage (Make sure APMW is on hand!!)

 

Railways usually run to timetables as will the trials next year. It will not hurt!!

Do Ghosts Speak? If so get in touch with Mr Burt and see what he thinks of "occasional trains" to his beloved Swanage. 1885 and all that!. I was there for the centenary when we proudly rolled a couple of hundred yards up the track behind "Linda" and "Cunarder"
..heading towards Wareham!

I am attempting to achieve the trail and support of an amenity service between Wareham and Swanage. Will you support the results one way or another???

 

I may be at Norden Gates in 2023 to watch the trial services go through. Perhaps I shall be aboard AND if such services are embraced by the public will the gricers(or is it grousers?) and WENG people accept that?

 

I still have no idea (as ever) what your on about.
Make your mind up what it is exactly you want, then come back with a clear and sensible response
