Your assumptions about other people's activities are just that ..... assumptions. That pretty much takes care of the rest of a frankly insulting comment.

My OP expressed a viewpoint and this is a forum where do just that, with the right to disagree on any or all points That's fine and dandy, but if you're going to take a post of mine to task, I'll thank you not to do so by taking selected parts of it badly out of context and kindly note that I'd already made it perfectly clear mine wasn't a comment specific to Swanage.

I do enjoy watching the Swanage railcam and, seeing the two Bulleids pulling well filled carriages today, is very satisfying. They are a credit to the SLL and SRC.

Having been there yesterday and today, today was the busier day but being a Saturday that would be expected. The footplate of 31806 was extremely popular with people queuing to get on almost all day. Trains seemed to be filled well and all of the crews were smiling.

He just won't let it go,the buffet coach is now at Corfe and in a prime position.Purchase your coffee etc sit down at one of the benches and enjoy the view and everything that's going on.The view is the Purbeck Hills and the passing railway scene and all it offers, and no while enjoying all this you are not looking at the coal yard which is On the other side of the coach. You say how unbeatable the the coach was in its position at Swanage,or course what you fail to mention is how you enjoyed listening to all the road traffic just feet away from the buffer stops and breathing in the exhaust fumes. While in Corfe you can relax with your coffee breathing fresh air and listen to the birds singing amongst everything else that's around you.Believe me it's better in Corfe.

You forgot whilst it was at Swanage - on one side of the coach you had good views of visitors going in and out of the Ladies and Gents toilets on Platform 2. Unmissable:(

Good to hear from someone who has visited the buffet coach at it's new location rather than from a mere critic from the other side of the pond.<BJ>

Last year (please correct me if wrong) Roads to Rail was August because the Great Dorset Steam Fair did not run, so has been brought forward to June.
Glad to hear it is doing well as the time this year now clashes with other events like Tankfest, Goodwood, etc.

I think last year was a 2 steam train daytime service, with DMUs just in the evening?

The buffet coach is way better where it is now. The only problem is there is nowhere at either end of the line, which is where people tend to wait, to get refreshments (without leaving the station).

There is the kiosk in the booking hall at Swanage and the outlet on the platform at Norden.

I can't see what that was responding to, because I have a certain person on Ignore. Why don't the rest of you do the same?

Swanage to my mind looks the most authentic of all preserved SG termini. I suspect that's the upside of not being able to change too much of the cramped site inherited once the goods yard had been lost ..... that plus the well suited native stock operated (both internal and external combustion). The sight of a Crompton, or visiting JB (Classes 33 and 73 to you TOPS types!) sporting a 98 headcode is always as 'right' as No.53 or a Flat Top. :)

There is a deal of a potential profit to be made from a decent catering operation. However, there is an immense amount of competition an easy stroll from Swanage station
