It has been discussed before but looking at the images from yesterday the area near Woodpecker sidings would benefit from a cool independent appraisal

Image #4 ,yours I believe, wherever it is needs to be tidied up before the punters start rolling through. I know its not peculiar to SRC ,There was an image of a Signal Box on here yesterday absolutely surrounded with "stuff" just seemingly cast aside.

Not Woodpecker that is Eldon Sidings if you mean the one taken of the NB waiting at Arne Road Bridge.
One PMV perhaps in need of some TLC, a container and the in service PW stock, not really sure what the issue is.

"he who hath eyes to see, let him see." Used to be a time when tidy trains ran on the SR. My point is, as the trials go ahead, do we want, hopefully fresh and impressionable punters, gazing out at stuff and dereliction as they approach the heavenly gates of Norden?

So, not only do you want a staffed cafe/buffet at Swanage, the carriage shed completed yesterday, the water tank completed yesterday, the carriage roofs repainted yesterday, daily mainline trains running and now you want all PW and oou stock to be restored!

Where exactly do you expect the people, funds and time to come from?

A practical answer would be preferred.

Well, practically? Carriage Shed has been postponed a couple of times even though foundations are in! (subscribed to appeal) water tank? remember all the fuss about that and how it would save us 20,000pa(subscribed to appeal) Carriage roofs.? Ongoing maintenance program?? The results from the Birds Nest Redux await to be seen! Project Wareham? Results forthcoming in 2023!. Check your back copies of SRN and see just how far back some of these aspired to projects go. Around 2015 would be a good place to start. So for a practical answer perhaps the numbers will be published as to the financial status of the two aforementioned appeals....haven't even mentioned the turntable. Remember that old adage "Never bite off more than you can chew" IMHO no more appeals until work gets under way on some of the funded aspirations, is that practical enough??

Yup;check out the silliness on the latest posting on "change.org' dated May 29/2022 where the correspondent writes that the BNB has been shunted into an eminently forgettable spot" Silliness? Do you think that the cost of erecting the carriage shed in 2023 will be the same as in 2022? One would think exponentially more expensive. Silliness? By the time SR get around to erecting the(gifted) water tank it will have to undergo more restoration one would think.
Silliness? Having chartered steam locos have to run to Eastleigh to turn;does that make any economic sense?

You remind me of an elderly relative of mine (now long departed) who never had a good word for anyone or anything.
As a long-standing supporter of the Heritage Railway movement and long-time reader of this forum I am surprised and disappointed that the moderators here allow you to continue posting your constant criticism, carping and sniping at the Swanage Railway, a line which you profess to support.
You show no sympathy for the changed situation in which the railway finds itself and no understanding of the challenges it now faces - not least the small matter of how to adapt and survive in the current dire economic climate. You think that just because you contributed to a specific appeal, or read about a particular aspiration forty years ago, you are entitled to dictate policy and expect to see projects completed to your satisfaction and at a time of your choosing.
Whether you run a heritage railway or, for that matter, an online forum, there are some members who are simply far more trouble than they're worth. I suggest that you fit the bill admirably on both counts.
As a new member of this forum, at least I now have access to the Ignore button. Rest assured that, as far as you are concerned, that button is now firmly and irrevocably pressed.

And again I refer you to the changed world we live in now. If there's no money in the bank then how do you expect the SR to complete these projects and why do you continually bay for blood without contacting the SR to establish the facts?

Unlike others I don’t have our friend from Ontario on ignore but I do ignore him. Some of his posts do raise a smile, but I certainly don’t bother wasting my time to correspond with him.

SWR just got a big environmental award for their work in upgrading the Island Railway and top of page on the handout is an image of of a VivaRail Island Train. so they must believe in them unlike some of the erstwhile CMEs(lol) on this thread

Informed sources elsewhere suggest that First Group engineers would not willingly repeat the experience. And that was with just a DC electric unit.
