Latest issue of Swanning around has a picture of 30108 between the two Royal Wessex coaches and the branch set. So at least that day your summation was correct.
Today (sat indoors with probable Covid, wife tested positive yesterday after 3 days of feeling awful but showing negative) noticed on the webcam the Royal Wessex headboard on the set without the Maunsell coach. Although not sure that headboard would look right on the U

Winding Up?. Commenting on the near wreck status of a Bulleid Pacific.? Don't you love that Railway euphemism Storage? One notes in the RM that such storage on the Bluebell has resulted in recent scrappings and one suspects on many a HR. Many of us had hoped many years ago that "Swanage" would be returning to its"home" town.Didn't happen.

I think Swanage's home town would generally be considered to be Brighton. Just saying :)

I take it he has run out of complaints about the Swanage Railway and is now having a pop at the MHR.

Most up to date info I could find, clearly no wreck but needing costly and novel replacements at a difficult time for everything.

That’s not the what’s caused the delay, as explained elsewhere on this forum, there are issues surrounding ownership.

so,14yrs rusting in Barry and now 25yrs most out in the open at MHR. I am only saying that it is unfortunate that "Swanage" did not get a home at Swanage. A natural flagship for the SRC.

There is a reason why 34105 ended up on the Mid Hants and not at Swanage, how many know this I do not know,I was told many many years ago and I would not repeat it on here.
It has visited here a few years ago.

Thag's alright for you LNER types to say. If tyre wear on one of yours goes out of spec, it gets its own sub-class. :)

From the Preserved British Steam Locomotives page if the current owner had not brought the Locomotive would have ended up as scrap? No knowing the full facts (part discussed in the The Mid Hants thread) The Mid Hants offered a home and part sharehold, With the cost of ownership and repairs, maybe like the Moguls the Mid Hants could either lease the full loco or buy the owner out?.
When the middle cylinder is fixed it could make a visit to the SR?.

My understanding is also that there are ownership issues with 34105 that have delayed getting it back into steam. I have some awareness of what the causes are but not sure that it would be helpful to post. Quite sensibly the MHR is putting it's efforts into getting Canadian Pacific back in steam, which the MHRPS owns, rather than investing lots of money into a loco where the ownership is not clear. It would be nice to have at least one Bulleid pacific back operational on the line.

The SR and SSL have several Bulleid locos, one at Spa Valley railway, and Manston is also near ready. So although the name fits well, MHR is probably the best home for the Swanage named loco. (unless they do a swap?)
