I have, but the issue is my life is so busy I just do not have the time or energy to contribute anything more than I currently am! Which is a shame, but that's how it is

    Up early Johann!
It is good to see more action at Ruddington. There is so much potential to be unlocked.....which is now happening I hope.

The 125 Group have started works on putting 43044 back to Valenta power (at Ruddington) as well which was mentioned in the same e-mail.
Still no information as to whether the Workshop facilities there are actually available again to the likes of the GCR Rolling Stock Trust or the 567 Group though......

    On the 45th!
I am not sure who to believe here as some said it was the brake material, others said it was the non retention toilets splattering waste on the brakes which, when called into action, fried the waste, which happened to be close to the AC fresh air inlet. Either way the smell was pretty obnoxious!
The seats in the middle of the coach were the least affected and an egg mayonnaise sandwich helped to cover the smell.

No .... it didn't smell of sh*t or anything close, plus it only ever occurred under heavy braking The only thing I could vaguely compare it with was that acrid smell of burning clutch plates.

Interesting lunchtime strolling around Ruddington (and a very enjoyable ride on the miniature railway, hauled by a superb model B1).

There was a lot of shunting going on which was interesting to see. The frames and cab of a tank engine (would love to know which one-possibly an Austerity?) were taken out of one shed hauled by the Cl37 which was being hauled by an 08, then when walking back up to Ruddington over the bridge in the park, an 08 hauled a long rake of rolling stock out through the gates and onto the spur, and back in to another siding. Fascinating to watch. If anyone can let me know the identification of the boiler on the well truck in the consist then I'd be fascinated to know what it is!

As a result, I've visited the websites of the 125 group, the Nottingham Heritage Railway, and the B1 locomotive society, and joined each one. Looking forward to the meet the fleet open day in a couple of weeks.

I believe the frames of the tank engine are those of MW 2015 'Rhyl' (ex Stewarts and Lloyds). The boiler belongs to S160 1631 as do some of the steam pipes on the same well truck

Rhyl is 2009. 2015 is Abernant/Arthur. I believe that one is Rhyl. (Does 1762 Dolobran have wheels? A while since I’ve seen it!)

You're right, Rhyl is 2009. But that is definitely Rhyl. It's the only Manning Wardle currently facing that way! Dolobran is also currently painted green (or was last time I saw it, admittedly a few months ago). Last time I saw it Dolobran had not been lowered onto its wheels, though they were close by.

Thanks. While we're talking GCRN/NHR based 0-6-0STs, do you happen to know the current status/whereabouts of HC 1682 'Julia'? There is mention on the preservedbritishsteamlocomotives site that it has moved away from Ruddington, but details seem sketchy. This was the first steam loco on site at Ruddington and I really hope(d) it might see service there one day!

From memory (and its been a few weeks since I was in the shed), Julia was sandwiched between Dolobran and Rhyl

The major reason for the shunt this weekend was to move the Permaquip from No1 to No5 building

There was quite a bit of excitement in the adjacent park and footbridge over the line when it happened!

Only 2138 & 2364. Not 1631 which is the one which has actually been worked on. (I’ve no idea of current progress.)

Probably makes restoration of one/both of the others a more likely prospect, so no bad thing really.
