The ownership of 34007 (Wadebridge) seems more straightforward than 34105 (Swanage), and with a good donation from Switzerland, they can get on with the overhaul and mainline certification. But will take until 2026 (rather than fast track).
    https://watercressline.co.uk/wadebridge-34007-overhaul/
Being mainline certified means it might be easier for 34007 to visit the Swanage railway (and other locations) for charters and galas.
So far no steam gala planned for Swanage, (although the Diesel gala went well and also 33111 went to the MHR gala for a push pull 4TC run) maybe 2023 when Manston (3 home based Builleids), plus 563, returns to steam?

I thought SRC had previously stated that they wanted only 2 Bulleids and this was the reason that Sir Keith Park went elsewhere.

Wasn't the statement in respect of examples either flavour (i.e. original or rebuilt)?

I think you have your wires crossed and possibly you're on the wrong Forum ;-)

Blandford Forum was dismantled by Birds at Swansea in December 1964!
Wadebridge on the other hand has been moved even further from Cornwall for overhaul :)

I thought (perhaps incorrectly) it was that with the expectation (at that time) of having 2 Bulleids, 2 (of the 3) "U"s, 80104 and the T9 all available for service there was ample traction.

As we now know there has only been 1 U available for service.

So for 2023 there should be 3 Bulleid and 1 U steam locos representing the BR 1950's/early 60's era on the rota and a possible steam gala, which means enough capacity for servicing, unforeseen faults, going to other galas, etc.
Not sure when 80104 will be finished?

    For the M7 30053 from https://srstaff.co.uk/swanningaround/swanningmay0122.pdf
"the finished article is hoped to be ready for testing by Spring 2023, and will be as good as new, if not better!" so presumably will also be occasionally on the SR rota in BR 1950's black (again)?

From the 563 website should also be ready for 2023 "In time, we hope to share 563 with as many people as possible and aim to make the locomotive accessible to all. The locomotive will travel to other heritage railways all over the country from time to time. This will help it tell the story of the London and South Western Railway and to become an ambassador for our local area".
So after running in, although is the LSWR Victorian/Edwardian era, guess will also be occasionally on the SR rota, but will also be at other locations.

Fires at both Studland and Church Knowle today.
Sandbanks ferry suspended and 50 bus on diversion.
Easy to see why the railway is running diesels.

Queue our Canadian representative to start spouting on about running narrow gauge services from Arne to take advantage of this

Just an observation, but has anyone thought that posts such as this possibly encourages the input?

Not intending to single you out but just saying in general.

If business is down 20% this year, as reported by some other lines, will the SR have the money to complete its carriage shed this year, in the face of costs for building materials rising?

Camping and caravan sites have grown in popularity since the pandemic started no doubt, every farmer seems to have one now.
I have no doubt the beach is full (I am about to start my second week of Covid symptoms tomorrow so have not been out).
I see lots of folks walking past my house in Victoria Ave throughout the day, (many we recognise now from seeing them in the morning and walking back in the evening, house arrest is boring) but other than Carnival Procession Sunday and last Friday when the market takes up half the car park the overflow in King George's Field has seen less empty than a normal year, it is visible from the lounge.
So if they are not coming by car more than normal, or by the railway perhaps @oliversbest you can tell me how they are getting here?
    Beam me down Scotty?:)

    Everyone

In an attempt to keep this thread relevant and avoid it being sidetracked a number of posts have been held back. Apologies if something legitimate that you may have posted was swept up in the process.

Building materials (along with pretty much everything else in the world!), have increased in price, so whatever money was raised might not be enough now.

I would've thought it unlikely to pay out a large amount of money for something not due to be built for a year. A deposit maybe, but that wouldn't guarantee the future price

oh great, so the project will get delayed AGAIN

That decision not to do it last Winter looks like the correct one now doesn't?
