Hi this long closed museum had a fascinating stockist, including ex LMS diesels
Ruston, a saddle tank, a Hunslet WD
    Some stock items
    Shropshire Montgomert 2-2-2WT
Cycled here as a kid and wonder if anyone has more details and fates of stock.
One particular item just discovered was 18" gauge 0-4-2t Vulcan Mars boiler.
Was this cut when it closed?
    Any more details greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I never visited, but fascinated by the boiler off the 18" gauge loco, I hope it survived the cull?

OT I know (apologies) but what happened to the Bristol Beverley? I thought they had one. Memories of seeing them parked up at RAF Khormaksar, when I was a schoolboy.

Whilst on the subject of lost items, what happened to the left over parts from the Austerity saddle tank used to make the broad gauge engine for the NRM? What was used from it apart from the boiler - cylinder block as well? And didn't they have a second Austerity?

Partly dismantled at Fort Paull I believe. Someone bought it, made a big hoo-haa about preserving it, then asked for donations for the dismantling and move. He then said he was going to convert it into a glamping pod rather than preserve it as an aircraft. Unsurprisingly, no one donated any money so it's now in limbo.

Damn shame. It seems that it isn't only railway preservation which has some odd 'preservationists!'

I went to the Beverley museum sometime in the early eighties. The ship I was Second Engineer on was in dry dock in Immingham and I wanted to see ‘Gazelle’. She had been moved to the NRM a few months before! Luckily she is at Tenterden now, where I was an Engineman for forty yesrs.
