I would like to say what i would think this narrow gauge loco could be (I have no inside information etc this is simply just a thought process which I suppose could be a talking point seeing some people do like to hazard a potential guess) -

I have a feeling its possibly 190 "Lyd" from the F&WHR only on the premise its visiting the L&BR for their gala the week after...

(as I say, just a thought and not anything official obvs)

Very impressive it is too, especially given the continuing difficulties railways in general, and steam ones in particular, continue to face.
Much looking forward to it and I do hope the ambitions are justified by the visitors.

The pages for the Pie and Mash and the Breakfast trains seem to release details that 34027/70, 2857, 9351 and 4930 will be hauling them at some point across the four days. I have carefully scrutinised the allocations with the timings to match and came to the POTENTIAL conclusion that loco B is 9351, loco D is 2857, loco E is 70/34027 and loco G is 4930.

Obviously it isn't a 100% confirmed thing as I simply had too much time on my hands. But I suppose it creates conversation

Probably a fair assumption to make with the information available.

Some further deducing from the available info would seem to make loco F 43106 given the event page states it will be on goods trains, and only loco F is on them all weekend. Add to this the only letter left to do full line trains during the large part of the day is loco A, can probably be deduced as 45231. This leaves C, H, I and J to be covered by 1501, 7714, 75069, and any further guest/s.

Of course all speculation at this point!

Allocations available for free with the timetable for an ASG - who’d have thought it!! Finally the SVR sees the light.

Has the footbridge that runs across the line between Kiddy signal box and the carriage shed been removed permanently? Also, will the area opposite the box be accessible during the gala?

No, just the replacement bridge work is taking longer than expected. I'm not sure what the latest expected date is. Previously I had heard September but that is rather rapidly approaching.
I'm fairly sure the grassy bank was accessible at both the SSG and SDG.

Thanks for this. The area between the running lines and the miniature railway looked to be out of bounds for the ssg .
I guess the footbridge is another symptom of the post pandemic supply chain issues we are plagued with?

There were delays in the lift and then the foundation work went on for a while. Of course, even when the bridge is ready to go in, it will depend on there being a possession on NR. I suspect the ongoing industrial action has caused issues in planning this.

Will the bridge be "open" like the old one was or will it be one of the modern fully enclosed bridges to stop vandals chucking stuff on to the tracks or passing trains?

There’ll be an update in the newsletters of 8th September on remobilising the site and plans/dates for the lift.

The project manager confirmed Story will need both the Up and Down Main and the Up and Down Loop blocked so they can use plant near the track and they will bury the loop under the crane pad. It will be in October.

For future galas: Design-wise it’s NR’s bridge so it’ll be to modern group standards with 180mm high sides, but it will be open. Bring your step ladder!

I suspect the answer will be the same at the ASG (and ADG).

I think you're both right (sort of). I didn't do the Diesel Gala, but from memory for the SSG it was closed on the weekdays as nominally being a working building site, but opened up on the weekend with the temporary fence moved down nearer the diesel depot. Example photo of the view available on the Saturday...
