Not really kettles fail and the same happens with 61 year old heritage diesels.

For which without it today you wouldn't have had a train today.

A short video of BAHAMAS at Fleet this morning and Farnborough Main this evening:

    Hope it's of interest.

Just had this from RTC. Would this indicate, as Buxton from memory is a terminus, that the train will be T&T and some diesel haulage involved.....but where and how much. My area knowledge up there is not so good.
The Peaks Express Sunday 25th September - update
With regards to your booking on our Peaks Express on Sunday 25th September, we are emailing to let you know that due to an engineering block at Woodley which comes into force from 18:00, the train has been rerouted on the return leg to travel via Buxton, including a short leg stretch stop there for passengers should they wish.
The revised approximate timings for the tour are as follows:

    Outward Return
    Preston 10.20 22:39
    Wigan North Western 10:42 22:23
    Manchester Piccadilly 11:23 21:28
    Chesterfield 14:57 17:44
    Derby 16:20 16:24

I'm not familiar with the area either so excuse this total guesswork (using Traksy), but if it's coming from the Hope Valley (Chinley), and would've travelled through Romiley to reach Woodley, where the block is, is it not possible to get back to Piccadilly by going via Bredbury instead? Or go via Hazel Grove and Stockport?

Buxton is a terminus, you will arrive in sidings to the North of the Station coming from Peak Forest and be pulled back into the station by the diesel, and depart steam hauled via Whaley Bridge.

As the times haven't appeared, yet. Does anyone know where the Duchess is scheduled to take water on tomorrow's outward trip to Chester?

Either of those routes looks perfectly possible, so it would be interesting to know why the train is being routed via Buxton with the associated reversals.

    Maybe these !

Engineering work is taking place between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge all day, closing some lines.

Engineering work is taking place between Congleton and Cheadle Hulme, closing all lines.

But I hope that doesn't mean it's diesel hauled now?
That happened when i was already en route to see a similar run a few years back...

I've not looked in detail, but I think all that's happened is that a half hour wait has moved from Stafford to Crewe, so nothing fundamental has changed. I assumed the Stafford stop was for water, so maybe that is now at Crewe? Or maybe it's just a pathing stop?

RTC's website has steam coming off on the return at Peterborough. Does anyone know if 6233 is heading straight back down the ECML to Southall or off to NVR. I can't seem to see anything on RTT?

There was a bit more light at Wardle after 6233 left Crewe for Chester. At other locations the Duchess wasn't showing much signs of real effort.

I saw it at Southall last week and it is looking a bit tired. I’m not sure when it’s next overhaul is due
