Oh you're talking about the good old days now! I think I was on that Swanage Belle trip that you mentioned - that was a good one. Those trips to Weymouth or Swanage were great as you got steam haulage throughout with two different locos and could come back the direct way through Eastleigh. Don't think there are enough locos available to allow that to happen now.

I remember 46115 on the Weymouth trip too!

Does the Swanage Railway currently have any steam loco that is registered for the main line? There's not much point if they can't spare one occasionally to go on the front of a railtour train as far as Southampton and there's no short-term prospect of a Wareham shuttle with steam.

Cant remember when but I had 34067 down and from Salisbury and 48151 Swanage to Salisbury so it can be done if the will is there and a second loco is available

Took part in GBXI which went to Swanage instead of Plymouth.

Back in the day when there were sufficient crews and locos both the Belle and the DCE were steam each way.
Remember a trip with Cromwell inbound and Tangmere back. Horrible October day drizzle and Tangmere slipped all the way to HX.
But those times almost as long gone as BR steam now.

Certainly the Bird Ordure has vanished since I used to help on the support crew for Flying Scotsman way back when [1988 and before].
Not just the floor but also the roof beams too. It does look smart now.
Well done to everyone involved in cleaning and keeping it clean.

I think WCR were severely criticised and censured by the ORR about the state of Southall shed and the HSE got involved.

I heard some terrible reports from MHR/Green Train support crew and volunteers about the state of the place when they worked on Steam Dreams charters.

Today's Swanage Belle should have left Victoria 45 mins ago but still seems to be there. Does anyone know what the problem is?

That's so sad but I guess there is little that can be done although given the train hadn't started its journey I'm surprised that it is still there.

The knock on impact for the whole day may be considerable.

Its being reported elsewhere that the passenger has sadly passed away. :(

    Massive complications therefore.

I don't envy the decision that West Coast may now have to make.

ECS headcode has just appeared on OTT. Looks like the trips cancelled.
