It’s going green again? I find that a little Meh, BR blue with silver railtour embellishments please for me, I did like the previous owner’s application of white cab surrounds in BR Blue and the renaming of it of a few of the FP racehorses.
In all seriousness before I start a livery debate, well done to all those at Crewe, I can imagine this one’s going to be a massive crowd pull, even amongst those who are ‘Steam only’;)
When’s it going to Kidderminster for running in?

It could be argued it period incorrect, with plated quarter lights and buffer fairings in place, but an excellent job.

I am with @Matt37401 the York railtour BR blue, although a bit "pimp my ride", was my favourite, and blue, as that is what i remember them as being.

Add a quarter inch of filth, and perfect!!!!

Could we finally get the much vaunted but never delivered A4/Deltic blast up/down the East Coast Mainline now???

Not looking good for Saturday IMHO. My brother and I are booked on it so watching with interest.

Even if today (and possible tomorrow?) goes well, and that's not a given on this evidence, it's still a big risk chucking it out on a full days hard work.

If it does run, I forsee much 47 shovage with a show pony 55 on the front.

Hope I'm wrong on all counts. Not long now before we know.

It’s been inactive for a while so maybe a little bit of carbon needs to be burnt off?

Did it do one leg on one engine and the return on another? I recall back in ‘96 it did its test runs up to Berwick in a similar fashion, having watched East Coast Resurgence recently whilst 22 seems a little smokey it’s certainly not as bad as it was back when it returned to the mainline back in the mid 1990’s.
I wonder if anyone from the DPS has been consulted about its latest mainline return?

It blew an engine on the way to Edinburgh in 2006/7, and the unit was replaced with a naval unit, that never worked properly, as it was not designed for the rail bourne vibration.

On that trip, it went all of the way to Edinburgh, after the blow up, rod through crankcase, piston detached, on one engine, it came back on same engine with a bit of help from a WCRC 47/57 from memory.

It produces as much tractive effort on 1 engine, from a standstill, as it does with the second going, sure it is a field divert that calls the second into action.
Driver also has an engine 1 /2 start in the cab.

Wish 'em all the best, its incredibly brave to take her out on a mainline charter after one short pootle out with no train or gradient to content with.

Very rarely run on 2 in a preserved environment, as 1 engine is at idle all the time of running.
Creating an oily collector drum, that becomes a real fire hazard.
Usually, they swap engines, as they run around, to even engine wear, and prevent residue collection.
