It's a shame that the Gwili is so far away! But photos like this do make me more and more inclined to make my way over to Carmarthenshire at some point to say hello...

Rather magnificent shots, aren't they? Been watching progress on the carriage front for yonks, always looking forward to the updates and shots like these remind you exactly what all the effort is about. Many thanks to @Sidmouth for sharing. :)

From the bureau of the Barry Railway Carriage Trust:

When it came up in the SVR threads about it moving, Gwilli was top of my list and I'd imagine it'll look good alongside 216 and 220.

It will be delightful to have a 3 carriage train in gwr livery trundling along. I think this can really help tell the story of railways in Wales and the Welsh railway trust have a great story to tell in their rolling stock:

    Freight & industry
Mond nickel no 1 1914 shunter
Austerities backbone of Welsh collieries post war
Peckett diesel and 03 early industrial diesel shunters/ end of much industry in wales

    Passenger
A 1920s train of 3 get four wheelers with one day tvr 28 at the front,
A hired pannier and mark 1s to represent late 50s, a dmu to represent 70s and a hst power car to represent very recently. It all really tells a very nice story.

SO what am I doing wrong? All I get is what I assume is their front page top half of the screen and a group of four photos on bottom left as I scroll down as far as it will let me (about an inch or so) which is promptly overwritten by the FB log in / sign up banner...

If you are browsing on a full-size device, try changing "m." in the url to "www." That gives you the non-mobile version of the site which is laid out better.

    e.g. https://www.facebook.com/BarryRailwayCarriageTrust/?locale=en_GB&_rdr

If I do that (and I'm not logged in to Facebook) I see:

and can see all the content by scrolling, ignoring the login button.

Two diesels arrive in one day, 08888 and a new entry into preservation, the Hunslet shunter at Bridgend Ford which has been donated to the railway. Many thanks to Bridgend Ford for their kind gesture.

    regards

    Matt
