Anyone who hasn't sent their list off to the big man in the red suit, could add this:

    https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/482664527293653/

Posted for info only - I have no connection to the loco or the seller.

And so Collection "X" begins to emerge into the daylight...

"Genuine barn find" (and maybe not the only thing that has emerged at that location recently.......??)

If this is a genuine slimming down of Collection 'X', it would not surprise me if they get a lot of interest from mainland Europe, given the pedigree of some of the locos.

Well if previously published lists are correct I believe that they do have a few "duplicates" in the collection (including another two of those Henschels, one modified to an 0-4-2t)
I understand that the seller is identified as "Vale of Rheidol Railway - Surrey" but no mention of the sale on the main VoR website or Facebook page that I could see.

There was an article on the Hulleras de Sabero locos in the Rheidol newsletter last year (they have 8!)

Indeed. I have been talking about a 2' line as a feeder to the 7 1/4" for quite a while ;-)

Very impressive, I didn't win the lottery so I can't put a bid in for her

Now come on, how do you expect Santa to get that down your Chimney?

Must admit I suggested to the wife that it might be a good Xmas present for me, she wasn’t impressed!!!

Any guesstimates of how much a serious bid would need to be? The listing has 100K crossed out, and £1234 added. Neither of these can surely be correct?

“Offers invited”. Anything above “no” is the asking price.

I asked for guesstimates from people who know how much something like this might go for. No more pathetic attempts at witticisms please :)

I would suggest that the figure will be a lot higher considering that she has been in dry storage and by the looks of the photo everything is there, beside a full overhaul and the replacing of such things like tubes, may be some boiler work oh and the removal of any asbestos and I think you will find that the safety springs will need replacing as well if you allow for anything than needs replacing to be replaced.

I won't be surprised if she fetches something like £100,000. I say that considering the price of other 2ft gauge locos on the market which are in a very poor state.

At least any buyer ought to be able to get a moderately up to date guideline price from the IMR. You won't of course benefit from the unit cost advantage of decontaminating 5 locos in one hit.

It is an interesting development. There are a few types where there are more than one example in the collection, lets hope there are others waiting to be release and eventual restoration in due course - A Gwailor pacific or a Lawley for example!
