Yet the CCL somehow remains devoid of steam.

I believe it was mounting the equipment on the support coach that was mooted initially, due to the size of the equipment. But they don't always stay with the loco. Now the ETCS equipment is smaller finding space to fit it on the tender is easier.

That makes sense. I'd wondered why on earth that hadn't been mooted for the CCL, which bob knows could use some additional traffic.

During it's stint on the CCL, I heard nothing but praise for the 'pocket rocket', so it'd be no surprise to see it (or a sibling) back at work there. Does anyone have a feel for how the Riddles 'mogul' compares with the less easily oiled around 7800 'Manors', late of that parish?

You know? Might just be me but I don't see 76000's as Cambrian engines, 75000's = Yes.
There must be something I'm missing here.

Less easily oiled 78xx locos - how so? A driver needs to go underneath to properly attend to the axleboxes so oiling the inside motion really is'nt a chore or any more difficult than oiling it outside! A Manor would no doubt create more interest.....

Says the bloke with a dead giveaway for a moniker! ;)

Anyway, with more than half a ton difference in axleload, the question raised earlier concerning Barmouth Viaduct needs an answer before even the lighter 76000 got the nod.

Edit: 76000 and half a ton, not 77000 and a ton .... dammit.

If the question is wobbly long bridge, the answer is clearly Terrier... (we can paint it up as GWR#5 if necessary).

to a degree you are . Standard four moguls were relatively late arrivals to the Cambrian Scene but they did appear .

First time I've seen photos of the Std 4 moguls on the line.
I remember that. There had been a regular 37 turn in the summer timetables when the restriction came in

very little spare paths . The pathfinder trips this year I think required bus replacement for a service train. Easy to say but practicalities conspire against it

Indeed. One of the drawbacks of services increasing to meet demand.

Possibly - but in this case, I'm not sure that last is particularly the case.

Indeed, I recall that when all this kicked off it was suggested that the kit required was similar in size to a fridge freezer and thus totally unsuited for locating anywhere on a steam locomotive.
