Looks good but a little more orange than this one this afternoon even allowing for the weathering. This was only taken as I could not remember if I had an image, and was waiting for Manston to appear.

Having seen some clips of Fenchurch in action, I was just wondering where the whistle came from as it seems to have a harsher pitch than the usual Terrier whistle and different whistles have been used on both the P Classes, so wondered where it came from?

Was it really 7 years ago that we painted this? Nice to see my lettering still holding up.

Both! Due to return to KESR at some point “soon”; not sure if that is before or after it’s appearance at the Bluebell Branch Lines gala though.

For anyone who hasn't seen this yet, on Monday 3 of our Bulleid carriages, plus RMB 1818 travelled from Carnforth to Hull Paragon behind Black 5 44932 for a weeks filming work on "Blitz", an upcoming feature written and directed by Steve McQueen.
Period accuracy of the hardware apart, it's really great to see Bluebell stock out there earning money in the big wide world, and even more so to see Bulleid carriages at speed on the mainline for the first time since the 1960s!

I believe they should have gone to Brighton behind Clan Line about 18 months ago, but that trip was scuppered by a weight limit issue at Brighton station.

In my recent experience of Brighton station presumably the tracks weren't expecting to have any actual trains on them?

Did they not run at speed on the mainline when lent to the MHR a few years ago? So maybe not quite the first time, but great video to see.

They went by road - should have been by rail, but there was a landslip north of East Grinstead that meant they had to go by road at the last moment.

I'm wondering whether, having made the effort to hire the Bulleid coaches, they will paint correct wartime numbers on them (and on the loco and remove "BRITISH RAILWAYS"), change those in editing, or leave the BR-era numbers and lettering.

Thanks, I was sure I heard they were going by rail. That explains why I could never find any videos of the move by rail!

Is there any reason they couldn’t have hired something more appropriate for the wartime period, such as the Maunsells? Or LMS ,GWR or LNER stock from somewhere slightly closer to the filming location, SVR NYMR etc?

Probably went to a Wartime Weekend at a preserved railway and assumed it was correct. /s

In all seriousness, tv and movies have gotten better about realism in this detail but I'd imagine theres a lot of cogs in film production that this is where the roulette wheel stops for this bit. It probably will be little more than scene dressing if it was in and out in three days.
