Could anyone provide a complete list of the GWR locomotives owned by Ken Ryder? Any dates when he acquired and sold them would also be helpful.

I have the following information which maybe all he owned, but confirmation would be useful.

5952 Bought from Woodhams, Barry (left September 1981) Sold To 6880 Betton Grange Society Ltd February 2010

7821 Bought from Woodhams, Barry (left June 1981) Sold to West Somerset Railway Association circa Summer 2008

7828 Bought from Woodhams, Barry (left June 1981) Sold to West Somerset Railway Company May 2004

    That’s a pretty niche interest …

    Agreed.

However to answer the question, I think the list sale dates are quite accurate and I think complete.

Not GWR of course, but the only other engine I think he owned is Hawthorn Leslie No. 3437 “Isabel” which iirc he bought in 2007 for use at Llynclys Junction, subsequently sold to EOR in 2010.

I suspect the producers of Mastermind will suggest that gets opened up a bit…

But part of the joy of our hobby is being interested in something nobody else has any interest in at all!

    Thanks Pete for confirmation

Wasn't DS1580, the heavy lifter at the Watercress Line, formerly owned by Mr. Ryder?

Although affiliated it was always owned by a separate group, 4936 was also the same.

He did have one at Llangollen when he was based there.

He owned a good number of wagons too.
