45407 approached Church & Oswaldtwistle on a slack, then came to a short halt in the Station, Not good for my photography but great for the gathering of families who had turned out to watch.

45407 passing Clegg Hall on her way to Carnforth and the K&WVR this afternoon.

Photo taken from the bottom of Rushy Hill on Lobden moor, as Private Fraser would say, "A wild and lonely place"!

    Yes, I think so.
No. My understanding is that the 2 Black 5s will lead 3 support coaches with the 5X bringing up the rear. But I hasten to add that this is not gospel.

Went out to see 44932 at Acton Bridge, which was shown running 55 minutes early. So based on that I was there in plenty of time. Held at Warrington until due time. Soaked and cold, gave up waiting.

Not sure how good the tarpaulins are on Staniers, but heck they have chosen a good day for a long tender first run!

Had 44932 continued early to Crewe Platform 12 was occupied by 45699 which had also run early causing me to shoot from the hip as it were with a seriously under exposed result ( still to work on that )
Caught up with 44932 at Madeley after the Crewe stop.

I hope the apparent problems (whatever they are) with 45699 working 5M43 can be fixed easily.
In summary close to RT passing Preston: lost time approaching Lancaster. Passed Lancaster 37' L then held on the DM at Lancaster North Jn, passing Hest Bank 91' L and getting inside clear at Carnforth S Jn about 110' late. Doesn't look good for Delay Attribution with 2 class 1's held at Lancaster.

I suppose it shows a different mentality - West Coast and Northern haven't mentioned 20+ minutes delays to their services or any consequential late running.
In Southern and Anglia patches there would have been "name and shame" messages on National Rail Enquiries and twitter for even 10 minutes delay which could be blamed on another organisation.

5Z49 with 44932 is on time between Wolverton and Milton Keynes, so there is some good news.

    Cheers, Neil

Just noticed that the rear of the Black 5 tenders are lined. I don't remember them being so in BR days?
