Replacement Doorlocks so the action becomes slam door seems to be the way being investigated without impacting the external appearance.

We are not replacing the door locks. We are investigating ways, using original GWR designs that were tested on 300 carriages in the 1920s/ 30s. The post '36 locks are taking a bit more time to come up with a solution due to the much smaller lock casing.

I hope everyone who has their own oppinion on this will take the time to read the RAIB urgent safety notice sent out to all Heritage railways and operators of heritage rolling stock following the incident on the GC in January. Regarding doors off platforms and the management of those doors, train lengths and any mitigation that can be put in place to reduce the risk of someone falling out of a door on a platform and sustaining serious injury.

I quite like seeing a rebuilt Bulleid in black - but will there be a white number on the smokebox door to "relieve" that dark space?

Here's my footage of 4079 Pendennis Castle sounding absolutely phenomenal on her first test runs on the railway before the gala. I believe this is the first time since 1994 in Australia, that she's hauled a train outside of Didcot. I hope you enjoy the video, cause I certainly did!

Presumably they have chosen to spend their money elsewhere. For a bank holiday, the service is incredibly sparse, anyone coming a distance is probably going to struggle to get there by 1030am. Miss that one and you don't want diesel then that's it until the afternoon. For me personally, being charged a premium fare for not booking days ahead is also a major disincentive.

Ii could see why you though that as unlike the gala or 4079 days if you click on today's date little is visible, unless you scroll down and choose the applicable timetable. I had to do it twice before I realised.

    Great footage.
4079 sounds superb, more of the same on Friday please! Good to see her let off the leash.
Taw Valley also sounds far more in tune following her repairs over winter.

There’s not a lot to do in Kidderminster unless you like Carpets.

I can imagine the organiser running this one won't be shy about giving an earful to anyone following them around with a 'proper' camera. And justifiably so as it would not be fair to those who have paid to take part. I am not doing this charter myself, but hope it goes well for those who are and the potential for future events. Personally I'd be more interested in 4555 on a short set of GW coaches, but I see why Pendennis is on the full set is a big draw.

I’ve heard a few other little bits about those in charge of this charter…
