It has been achieved with some videos on here recently, the drone following the train for a while with sound presumably from a microphone near the person operating the drone.

Yes, but my point was that you can never achieve 'clean' sound from the drone itself - i.e. following the train - because the operator obviously can't follow the drone and capture the sound from its POV. The soundtrack will always have to be overlaid afterwards and won't be in sync (from the ground as the train passes rather than following it). It doesn't matter for some scenes but it's very easy to tell that separate sound from a different source has been added.

A really fine shot - that 9F looks like it's really struggling...;) It would be worthwhile cleaning that shot up digitally if you wanted to (not a criticism). I'd be happy to have a go.

Sound will only ever be perfectly synchronised when the loco passes close by, because sound travels slower than light. Some drone videos that have been posted on here recently have had sound as good as it would be from a camera close to the line. That is much better than silence, which in turn is better than irrelevant music or (like one old film that was linked here recently) dubbed sound that is nowhere near the right speed for the revolutions of the wheels.

I'm sure 6233 was also booked to haul a Cathedrals Express from Crewe to Carlisle on this date.

Tempted to get a Bulleid out of the Cross. Skipped the last couple of opportunities and there may not be many more, but the early start is an issue if you don't fancy a hotel.

She was, and is still advertised as such. SD are probably awaiting a replacement loco from LSL.

Hope to see the Duchess back soon. If it returns for the Royal Duchy trains this summer would it be too heavy or too long for the newly restored turntable at St Blazey?

Unsure whether the loco is still too big for the turntable at St Blazey, but if word of mouth from someone involved with the PRCLT on Facebook is to go by 6233 may not to ready until Christmas, just have to wait and see what plays out!

If 6233 doesn’t run this year then this will cause RTC some problems. Read another comment on the same Facebook page which suggests 6233 won’t run until 2024.

Wow! A combination one won't see again. Some really interesting tours and loco combinations back in the 1970's and so pleased to have witnessed some myself both as a linesider and a traveller. Thanks for sharing this picture.

That's the LCGB special - Fells and Dales? The LNER Society ran the Gresley Centenarian the same day over the same route. Locos were 790 + 92220, 1306 + 5407, 4472 and a Class 40. The locos worked different legs of each tour. A grand day out.

790 on one of the Carnforth - Grange shuttles in May 1976. Quite an experience to travel behind it over 40 years after it had been withdrawn.

Does anyone know the motive power for the Edinburgh Flyer this Saturday?
