Very likely to be BIL. There will be a cleaning team at the NRM on Friday to make sure she is in top condition. :)

Whilst I do like 46115 a lot it is nice to see something different for a change and may even prompt a trip to Edinburgh to see it.

Is this the first Merchant Navy to visit Edinburgh?

...and on the Edinburgh Flyer, 19 March 2022. Come to think of it, it's more unusual to go to Waverley and not see BIL these days ;)

No doubt with a Class 47 on the back.

Maybe I should pay a visit then? For some reason B1’s and Merchant Navies don’t like it when I’m around ;):)

And a very good run it was too. Sadly can't have too much of a good thing, so will probably try to catch it in July when it departs the Cross to complete the ECML (in the down direction, anyway).

Had ticket letter today. NR have relented and we now have 9+POB for the ACE on Saturday. Should be a fun day out with 45596.

What’s the load limit for an unassisted run up Honiton?

Nothing to do with NR. I think that Kelly Osborne has worked hard to get this trip to run much as it would have done were the original planned 8P to have been available.

Don’t know but 45596 is a double chimney Jub and from what drivers have told me is a good strong engine. Also it should be dry and ought to have a good run at the bank provided it’s not stopped at Axminster . My guess is 22 minimum at the tunnel. We will see

Whiteball should be entertaining on the return.

Upton Scudamore is more challenging than Whiteball.
Last year driver Bill Monteith took Bahamas up Sapperton with a similar load on a wet rail with no trouble, full regulator and just an adjustment of cut off as we hit the 1 in 60 at Frampton Mansell. I’m sure he will be on the Waterloo to Exeter leg so Honiton should be no problem.

I did say entertaining not challenging.

The LE move from Waterloo to Acton is on RTT but not the main event! At least it confirms an unassisted day, which is also forecast to be fine and sunny.

Oh yes, indeed - it's not a problem, I just found the sequence of things appearing on RTT vaguely amusing. However, with fewer than 48 hours to go it's relatively unusual for a non-60103 train to be this late appearing on RTT.

Definitely BIL, presently working the ECS to York, with a 47 pilot.

I saw that at Bentham, looked like Hardwicke was doing all the work.
Hardwicke also ran with Flying Scotsman
