45231 seen climbing up Shap to the summit, not the best conditions with the heat haze and an abundance of flies.

With Blackcombe Fell as a backdrop Black 5 No. 45231 'Sherwood Forester' powering the return 'Lakelandser' rail tour through Kirksanton and to Millom for the waterstop

Not a lot of exhaust today but the wonderful bark climbing Dalton Bank more than made up for it

Passing Black Dyke on the return. The diesel on the rear was making more noise than the Black 5.

I went on Saphos tours ‘The Lakelander yesterday Saturday 20th May 6:00am start from Brighouse with a return at 11:05pm arrival back
Haulage by D1935, don’t know what happened to D213 Andania, 47614 on the rear then Black 5 45231 The Sherwood Forester from Preston to Carlisle, return via Cumbrian coast route to Carnforth South Jct
Some diabolical times given to the return journey, 2 hours from Manchester Victoria to Brighouse!!!
    Anyway good time was held
No idea what the giant microphones were for strapped to 45231

That's a lovely set of nicely framed (and disguising!) shots.

She did well to take 12 + a 47 over Shap. Saw her on return near Grange and she was fairly rattling along, noticeably quicker than what we see normally.
