Announced today that the Autumn Diesel event is being upgraded to a 4-day event and that there's a distinct hydraulic theme with 'the SVR aims to host the largest gathering of operational preserved Westerns, Warships and Hymeks seen in preservation.'

You might want to edit the topic title... ;)

D821, D832, D1015, D1062, D7017, D7018 and D7076 are the only ones currently operational. That's a lot of low loadering if they can't be transported by rail.

And All have now been confirmed as the line up along with D9551 and more to come (presumably from the home-fleet)

As 3 of those locos are SVR-based, it's would only be the same number of low loaders as it takes to bring in two steam locos and tenders, but if they can be moved by rail, it's only two movements, one from the ELR and one from the WSR and I guess one of the numerous SVR-based Class 50s could do the honours.

821 has to come back at some point too, shouldn’t be a problem if 832 wants to hitch a lift with it.
The only problems I could see is if one of the 1000’s had to be low lowdered in but of of course both are registered for the mainline, (yes I know 1062 can only be towed but it still has a TOPS number)

Apologies, I thought it was still on its Jolly’s in Lancashire.

Great lineup but I find it odd they are using the ‘magnificent seven’ when there’s eight.

I’m sure I’ve seen a FB post by the MD that says there’ll be some other non-SVR based traction.

Apart from the obvious film association, the gala's USP is "...aiming to host the largest gathering of operational preserved Westerns, Warships and Hymeks seen in preservation". The Class 14 doesn't add anything to the USP – the ELR has managed 9 Class 14s in a single train before now. Of course the Teddy Bear is equally magnificent in its own way. ;)

Thanks for the info. Only decision they could make, but that's quite a set-back for the SVR Gala. I was intending to book the Friday for my first ever diesel gala, but the two main attractions will now be absent. I do hope it will be a success though, there will still be plenty there for WR diesel fans.

D1048 Western Lady added for static display. Sadly not a runner currently, though I wouldn't be surprised if it has an extended stay to make it operational.
