None of which was justified or in any way supported what Joanne was campaigning for.

Nor, despite the actions on her watch, should anyone wish her anything other than well.

However, as @Robin Moira White says, there is unfinished business that requires resolution.

Real resolution requires courage. Is that as lacking in Lancashire as it is in Somerset?

Joanne’s case was clearly bungled (at best). If there was a grievance against her from the “railway management” they pretty clearly didn’t run any kind of fair process. Whilst legally within their rights, simply excluding a volunteer was bad and when that volunteer was already well known the subsequent backlash was predictable. Subsequent statements doubled down on that unfairness in process. That doesn’t justify threats, but I do agree that it creates a culture where such things might be more likely. A strong dose of courage and morality is required.

Unfortunately, the people who create such situations are, IMHO, those least likely to have the qualities to resolve them. That has certainly been true in Somerset.

Known as Karma in some circles…

Although, without knowing any of the facts, I wholeheartedly agree with @35B ’s notion about “two wrongs don’t make a right”.

The problem that often occurs in such situations is that it needs someone with a lot of courage to bring things to a conclusion, people can spend too long thinking all the pro and cons, what's and wherefores and the longer you think the harder it becomes. Sounds like it needs someone that both sides have respect for and to get everyone talking.

I feel sorry for Tracy Parkinson in all this. As something of a female footplate trailblazer herself, I can't imagine she was a willing participant in the Joanne Crompton debacle, and I'm left with the feeling that she has become the sacrificial lamb. Of course, if I'm wrong then I'd be very disappointed and would have to admit that she's probably got her just desserts, but I really would prefer not to have to believe that.

Sometimes it's better to be less cynical and hope that people are actually better than they may seem to the casual observer. People don't always disappoint.

Incredibly disappointed that it isn’t Mike Kelly leaving, his handling of this has been nothing short of disgraceful.

It appears to me, unfortunately, male egos are at play here. The buck stops with him....

This is where I'm at too from what I've seen. The threats against Tracey (whether they're serious or not (which isn't the point)) all stem from Mr Kelly's actions and inactions. She's fallen on the sword for him and the rest of the ELR upper managements.

It's interesting reading his LinkedIn profile. He claims "hands on management"....I think not. He seems to have spent his entire career in the public sector.

The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Or could mean a control freak who is unable to delegate. I worked for a few of them.

I know this, you know this, there’s quite a few other people who know this.
The thing is does he know this? Or is it going to take someone to have a quiet word and suggest he ‘spends more time with his family?’
