Posted it not really with L&B in mind, more generally after scanning the discussion just before mine. I don't always get a chance to go back that far on posts lol

So whats your answer when you have all but one trustee playing loose with the rules and one trustee trying to push those others to work within the rules, if that one trustee was to resign the rest carry on as normal and no-one is there to try and hold them to account, likewise if the maoa's are changed to basically create a closed shop those trustees can pick and choose who they have on the board without the members say so and if someone isn't towing the others/dominant line of thought they can be removed,

Which is why, even if selection committees are used, giving them a power of veto to a legitimate candidate is the wrong answer to a legitimate problem.

Any chance of sharing them more widely for those of us mere mortals who are Trust members but not in that group?

Well, it seems we have one retiring trustee [edit: my mistake - Malcolm was not originally a Trustee, and remains a CIC Director - sorry!] and two new trustees. The results are yet to appear on the official L&BRT website, at https://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/trust-notices as promised by chairman Peter Miles, but I'm sure they will appear there soon.

Martyn, as read on your exmoor ng post I think you may be in a muddle, M.S is a CIC director who was standing to be a new Trustee, he didn't become a Trustee but obviously is still a CIC director and managing director of the railway

Ah! point taken - yes I realised he was and still is a CIC director, but was perhaps a little confused there.

    Thanks.

So what now? The trustees gave Anne an ultimatum to withdraw from the election or have her volunteer status removed.
So she didn't withdraw and has been elected. So will the trustees now follow through and withdraw the volunteer status of a newly elected trustee?
    Curiouser and curiouser.

As @DaveE has repeatedly called for - and I agree with - we need some healing. And the first step should be to stop all of this vendetta nonsense against Anne. The report on which the proposed illegal punishment was based had been shown to be slipshod nonsense (if you can't even spell the subject's name correctly...) and the whole thing just needs to stop, and apologies made.

Anne certainly got an impressive number of votes, she clearly isn't some sort of outsider. The Trust must respect that, it's the wish of the membership.

I have no idea at all what this means. Can anyone explain.....

"I am pleased to report that on Thursday 20th July, Exmoor National Park approved the last outstanding pre-construction condition of the 44 that were placed on the 2018 planning approval. The statutory period for approval of conditions is 8 weeks but the longest took over 34 weeks with our agreement to 9 extensions of time. The information submitted to discharge these pre-construction conditions will be very helpful in any future planning application to extend the railway from Killington Lane to Cricket Field Lane.

    John Barton - Trustee"
