...and posting a copy of the image on NP rather than a link to Flickr is far more user friendly. I may be the only one but I dislike the need for Flickr to want to manage cookies every time I, by accident, pick up something on their site. Once you are hooked into them there is little escape apart from a computer clean.

Some pics from yesterday morning at Hellifield.

    IMG_1253.JPEG

Looking north - With her tender piled high with Kazakhstan's "finest" 45562ish waits in the up loop. The coal had been given a thorough dousing and water was running from the footplate.

    IMG_1254.JPEG

The guard, Roly Parker and the driver, Mick Rawling (back to camera) wait on the footplate of 45562 for the Dalesman to arrive from Chester.

    IMG_1256.JPEG

Looking south and 45562 has become 45627 Sierra Leone (almost). The tanks that provide WCRC locos with water can be seen on the hillside.

Out in front of the Arcow train so chance of a decent run up the Long Drag. But will it be Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde?

    Dalesman BIL 1 NP.jpg

For once my own personal cloud stayed away as SRMN class No. 35018 'British India Line' worked today's northbound 'Dalesman' passed Salt Lake Cottages in full sun with Mick Kelly driving, Martyn Soames firing and Matt Miller Guard

    Dalesman BIL 2 NP.jpg

With the lovely hamlet of Stonehouse in the foreground No. 35018 'British India Line' works the return 'Dalesman' over Arten Gill viaduct and onwards to Hellifield David Blair driving, Rob Russell firing and Steve Adams Guard

Bloody typical! The Dalesman running behind BIL on and a warm, dry day and where was Oswald? . . . he was on it! (Report to follow in next couple of days.)

British India Line scurrying across Dandry Mire in something like 26° heat northbound, then slogging up the hill past Greengate beneath an inconvenient cloud on the return.
