With the weather dry but gloomy I headed over to Leyland to watch 46115 on its "LE & Brake" move to Bristol. Plenty of spaces on the car park, I paid my pound and headed onto the platform. The contractors still have much of the car park cordoned off as a compound but the work on the station appears to be nearing completion. The up fast platform still has a temporary barrier preventing access to its southern end, I headed down to within around 10 yards of it. I chatted to a guy who does some gardening on the station (and it is a credit to him and his colleagues) then he wandered off to the platform opposite. Another couple of guys sauntered up, another chat and they agreed to stand behind me (thanks); the younger one was planning to video the train using his phone.

RTT showed RT running and SG had now left Preston. A southbound Avanti charged through, us next! Some wisps of steam from around the distant bend, then the front of the loco came into view. Not much sound, understandable with only one coach. Then the signature 10A hiss-hiss from a draincock. She wasn't hanging about as she swayed from side to side, under the road and past in an instant. The driver waved, unsolicited - thanks. 16C, RT & around 60mph. Tangmere on Wednesday, black 5 on Thursday and Scots Guardsman on Friday, what a busy old Oswald I've been - I love it!

Approaching the crossing at Bromfield, little light and less exhaust.

Anyone know what the two horizontal strips on the signal arm are ?

I'm assuming it's 45690 to Southall for the Essex-Avon Express on Wednesday.

Never seen anything like that. They almost look like LED light strips!

Leander’s planned move to Southall now showing as cancelled on RTT. Oswald had waited for over an hour at Leyland until it started to rain.

Heading north past the Dorrington signals only a few minutes down and then passing the attractive Yorton station 25 minutes down after waiting (surprise) at Shrewsbury for a late running TfW Cardiff - Manchester

A few of my shots of Scots Guardsman at Hereford: arriving and reversing into bay platform 4 to take water.
Only just got the first as I was nearly photobombed by the 2 197s that I'd just arrived on!
