Nice little sequence - how on earth did 34046 wangle a fast line run?! Nice doppler effect from the whistle as it passed.

Thanks. I guess there was room for it on the fast (it had an 800 infront and nothing behind it), and also wasn't stopping at Didcot like most steam tours do.

The majority of runs on the GWML are being offered paths along the ML these days - especially east of Reading. Easier to path in the gaps there than in amongst the high frequency stop start of Crossrail etc.

My footage of the climb up Sapperton Bank in the evening. Rather lovely it was, too, I must say. Enjoy :)

It has happened before at a London terminus (London Bridge) during the Ashford 150 celebrations in 1992:

Very nice filming but, oh those accursed camera shutters! I have mine on silent permanently.

Some of us still use proper film though, so no way of stopping shutter noise I'm afraid.

Why would you do that? (genuine question from someone who knows little about photography)

There is a quality in film photography which simply cannot be achieved with digital. I don't use film myself, but I take great enjoyment looking at the results of those that did and the few that still do.

RTT doesn't have the outward timings but I found them on Open Train Times instead. It's just gone past Stevenage 5L.

Indeed, but 99% of the cameras used are digital and have shutter sounds added. Film users are forgiven!

Most modern cameras have some form of quiet mode that can be enabled, but a lot of users can't be arsed to look in the settings for it.

Absolutely right. My K25 slides are completely perfect. Just take a look at my book Southern after Steam. No hint of pixels. Digital is better in low light though and with very contrast situations

You may have left a mast and wires in reflection on the river?

    You're right, thanks.
Serves me right for trying to do two things at once, watching football and playing about with Photoshop! ;)

I think the reflection may be the fence posts,as they look too close together to be electrification masts.
