A mainline ticketed one would be just the thing to have on standby to assist banking over Slochd......

    We can but dream :)

Ah well, perhaps my use of the word "acquired" wasn't meant in the full definition of the word. I haven't spoken to the Chairman of the Strathspey Railway Company (or Dad, as I tend to call him) regarding this so I'm not providing any knowledge or statement on behalf of the SRC.

An interesting video by the Railcar restorers on the road lads showing behind the scenes views of the strathspey loco and C&W sheds.

Hi, does anyone know if a replacement visitor has been booked to replace the S160 that’s now unable to attend the gala?

Unfortunately not, so just Bon Accord and a two train service with the Black 5 and Ivatt. A shame as it had potential to be a really good event. I hope that Scotsman's visit will still pay dividends.

I think Scotsman's visit is going well. All bar one train yesterday appeared full, and a queue all day today for static tours. Plenty of road engine action too.

Haven't seen any videos of it tackling Aviemore to Boat of Garten but it was looking well heading to Broomhill if a little unchallenged.

Does anyone know the actual colour, that is a colour from a colour chart, used by NCB Backworth to paint its engines in the 1960-70's. Royal Blue and Prussian Blue have been suggested. We have RSH austerity 7097 which is ex-Backworth and is undergoing restoration. Having stripped it to bare metal the paint layers exposed were inconclusive, but it is intended to restore it to its NCB colour.

I have wondered that myself. It looks like the balacony coach end of the Royal Scotsman set on the left

Whilst not denying that is a bloody good smack and I hope the injured parties are ok.
Id be concerned at how much debris has flown off the shelves. That amount of damage and debris, Im very surprised that nothing has come off the road.

As the Scotsman set is a mainline set. The fact that items such as bottles and glasses arent more secure to prevent flying objects in the event of a collision is surprising.
