Not going to lie, watching this gave me goosebumps a little bit. 10 years ago, there was probably not a single person who thought this would ever happen and yet here we now are.

Fantastic to see it running. Would T3s have run along the Swanage branch when they were in regular service ? Plus any historic photos of them doing so back in the day. ?

It is likely that some members of the class might have, they did work main, and secondary passenger work, especially if they were Eastleigh based, or Bournemouth, then local expresses would have been one of the duties, and locals to Swanage, because, they could fit on the turntable,

Excellent video work on the trains/locomotive, but can't get my head around the superfluous (to me) shots mixed in of trees/plants/fences etc., detracts from otherwise very good videography. Others may disagree.

Great footage, it sounds fantastic, nice bark from the exhaust, it was batting along nicely with five on

Sad that someone should criticise a video because it had artistry.

I find it visually more pleasing than punishing shot after shot of trains. Like building a model railway: theres more than just track and trains. TheSoutherner channel is one of the better ones with crisp visuals, steady camera work and pacing of videos.

Too right, absolutely no issues and putting to bed any idea it might have a restricted load capability - looks like it could be a really useful loco, that also looks absolutely gorgeous! I can't be the only one thinking a trip to the Isle of Purbeck might be needed next year!?

It's an opinion not a criticism, I praised his excellent video technique of the train, I don't consider myself sad thank you very much. Voltaire.

I think I praised his actual video and technique if you read my comments, can't see how I have punished him, simply a view. Voltaire.

And I gave a counter view. There are so many awful videos on Youtube where the camera work is shaky, iffy sound etc so a videographer that puts effort in to the whole product is appreciated. The odd shot of flowers or whatever is a nice bit of visual relief.

Sounding good and powerful are not the only considerations when setting the load that a locomotive can take, getting water back into the boiler is another factor that can have a bearing.
I haven't had a chance to chat to the guys who have been running the tests; but I did note that the first train ran with 5 coaches, the remainder of Tuesday and yesterday were with 4.

It really is a fantastic achievement and looks to be a superb performer. Has anyone else noticed this? In the first clip of the loco hauling stock at around 3.00, it seems to exhaust out of the chimney at alternating sides with each blast. I've never noticed that from any loco before.

It is normal on a two cylinder locomotive for the exhaust to be coming alternately from each side, I've not seen it actually effecting the exhaust at the chimney before, but that is probably the cause.

If the streams of exhaust from the two sides are still visibly different where they emerge from the chimney, that suggests something iffy about the draughting.

Does the loco still have the Adams "vortex" blast pipe? (I suspect not as I believe in later years they were removed, but worth asking the question).

    H. Holcroft noted something similar with spark emissions from Wainwright engines in tunnels but only from saturated machines. He ascribed this to condensed steam re-evaporating upon emerging from the blastpipe and affecting the direction of the blast. See "Locomotive Adventure" Vol. II Page 141
