It seems that engineering work, presumably in the London area, has scuppered the return of Bahamas into Euston. Steam comes off at Rugby on the return. Hey ho.

And pathed northbound via Stafford rather than the advertised direct route from Colwich to Stone.

Good point, didn't notice that. Was thinking about the Mancunian with 46233 which ran up to Castleton where the whole train turned on the triangle.
Maybe it's just going to Castleton to be out of the way and watering could possibly be easier? Pass.

Had not spotted that. Don't you love it when important detail is slipped under the wire so we don't notice. Yes, Colwich to Stone via Aston-by-Stone was advertised not via Norton Bridge. But as they say, "We only promise to take you to your destination - the route is irrelevant"...unless it is. But hey ho, another bit of rare track bites the dust.

Looks like it accommodates a water stop at Stafford, and Searchlight Lane to Stone is still rare enough only seeing steam recently on two days in 2022.

Yep. Nowadays you take what is offered. The system loses as I am now far more selective with my money. That's just a fact rather than a swipe. I understand all the issues. It's a pity, as I've said many times, that those able to do so seem to think it's ok to be coy about detail.

The March 2022 trip with 46233 was also advertised as turning right at Colwich but turned left instead IIRC. Disappointing, but c'est la vie...

And that suggests to me that the RTC asked for one thing, got something else and 'forgot' to tell everyone..

Yes, just been told the 47 will lead from Eccles to Castleton and 45596 leads back to Manchester.

A good example of where you just have to have a shunter to turn the train. The hope is that after Camden bank it goes all quiet at the back as the total load is actually manageable. Well done to the RTC for running with a short train.

I'm looking forward to this one as the route through Stone and Macclesfield will be new for me.

Any idea on what the current load is with this one so far? Looking to book it rather soon or do pay on the day

Also I could be wrong but I have the sence the diesel on the rear could be doing a fair share of work between Euston and Rugby, having heard from when 45627 did that section in March this year it couldn’t carry enough water to do the run between said locations without having diesel assistance

    And

    Crewe and Stafford
Heavy rain flooding the railway between Stafford and Crewe means trains have to run at reduced speeds between these stations.

A 50mph speed restriction is in place through the affected area. This will result in an additional 20 minutes to your journey.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Andy says they'll do what they can but water will be tight and the railhead is poor. But that's all you can ask.
