Hmm. The engine incident was 2012 and support was withdrawn at 2015 so they took their time to make up their minds.

 

Needs a support crew just to keep her in taxiable condition but I'll agree it does seem a tad too many.

it seems that many people are supporting the venture, and I look forward to the new sustainable home being completed, and that it will at some point be able to get airbourne for some suitable important occasion.....yes dreams are made of this and people who put their hands in their deep pockets, are, in fact, what makes dreams come true, Tornado is just one example........

Are any of the organizers of this fund taking wages still since the Vulcan was grounded ? because, it seems money is just flowing out all of the time , it the idea to preserve the aircraft, or to be a cash cow for some of the organisers?

 

According to the announcement earlier this year when they downsized their operation, they were reducing to eight full-timers. Other Vulcans, i.e XL426 and XM 655, are maintained in ground running order by volunteers. So many questions.....!!

 

Just a quickie as its caught my eye, I don't know how much Facebook ad's cost but they must be spending a fortune on such things as they pop up on y timeline everyday without fail!

 

Facebook advertising costs are negligible for coverage, if you have like their site, they can advertise without cost, direct to your PC.

A campaign directed at their "fans", and supporters, takes very little effort.

The accounts up to October 2020 make interesting reading. Income around £2m. Outgoings (including £633k on advertising alone!), £1.2m. It seems out of the £2.2m required for the mortgage of the hangar (not even the full amount for its construction), they raised about half a million pounds in 5 years. So where has all the money gone...?

 

Legitimate expenses?

 

An interesting question given the fiduciary duties of charity trustees.

An update :-

XH558: Owners of Vulcan aircraft to hold more open days at Doncaster Sheffield Airport in 2024 despite closure (msn.com)

 

I think I read somewhere that Sheffield council were going to take over the airport and reopen it and the Vulcan folk had been given a reprieve.
