At the NVR, Danish F class 656 should enter into traffic after a very protracted running in. Issues with axle boxes and air pumps have delayed it's 2023 return unfortunately.

Hudswell Clarke Derek Crouch may also make an appearance once Thomas, 656, the Polish tank and 92 Squadron are also returned from their various overhauls and repairs.

Already dead sadly. Probably would have been useful for santa and lights trains. Leaves the nnr with 53809, 92203 and 564 to get through the period

Shame about 76084, any idea what it was withdrawn with?

6024 seems to have vanished into a black hole at Crewe after an initial boiler test and initial movements at the WSR quite some time ago (with suggestion/rumour of some disarray between owners and the 6024 group), likewise is there any suggestion that anything substantial has happened to 6201 so far bar some stripping?

Both to return in time for their respective events?

How wonderful it will be to see that beautiful little engine return, I missed it dearly.

Not sure about the other two but 4253 definitely, when that's out, I will definitely have to make a visit.

Quite literally bar room talk regarding 6201 but not so long ago someone with connections on the big railway did tell me that it’s current Landlords wouldn’t mind taking on a ‘big red un’ as in permanently, whether that one happens we’ll just have to wait and see.

Regarding 6024 I think we’ll know what’s happening with that when it’s heading on a low loader to Bridgnorth. :)

During October it was discovered that a superheater element had failed and further inspection revealed many more in a similar condition. The elements are now on the floor in front of the loco.

Would all those need to be replaced anyway for a new boiler certificate?

I've been patiently waiting for "Tinkerbell" to make her return; it's a pity the the NVR has had to hire in for the Santas.

Don't know about nowadays, but it didn't used to be the case that they were automatically replaced when boilers were overhauled - they were just hydraulically tested and re-used if they passed.

When 2968 had her hydraulic test on 16 March the inspector asked if we had hydraulicked the elements. He was happy to accept the originals, but they were being renewed anyway.
